It turned into John's job to be Sherlock's emotional guidence councellor, well, that or someone to talk to when any topic came up. The truth was that the boys had barely spent any time apart since they had brought Sherlock back to Mycroft's house. A week later they were still spending as much time as possible together - sneeking around at school, going over to Mycroft's house, where Sherlock had been staying, at any time possible. It seemed that they really did get along, though both boys knew that their relationship ran far deeper than any friendship.
"John?" Sherlock said, sitting on the sofa at Mycroft's house. The other boy looked up from his book and smiled,
"Yes Sherlock?" He answered, shuffling closer,
"I've been thinking." Sherlock said, eyes not quite meeting John's and he nervously twitched his hands, "Do you... do you think it would be ok for me to... hold you hand?" He asked, biting his lip.
John blinked and couldn't help but grin. He loved the adorable innocence of Sherlock sometimes, it showed the boy really had no idea when it came to relationships. John nodded,
"Yeah, I think that would be ok." He said, letting a smiling Sherlock reach out and tentatively take his hands. John laced their fingers together.
After a moment, Sherlock found a blush forming on his cheeks,
"John?" Sherlock said again,
"Yes Sherlock?" John replied for a second time,
"Can we... cuddle?"
John grinned at Sherlock, "Of course." He replied, taking his free hand and wrapped it around Sherlock's back, pulling the boy down onto his shoulder. And that's how things proceeded. They were more than friends, there was no denying it, yet not quite boyfriends. One day, John decided to take matters into his own hands.
The playing field was quiet as most people were in their lessons. Sherlock had persuaded John that it would be a good idea to skip their lesson in order to be together, of course he agreed. So there they sat, alone on the field, surrounded by daisies. John smiled,
"I never thought I'd say this, but it is actually very beautiful here." He said, looking around the field. John felt eyes on him, and he looked to the side, realising Sherlock was staring at him so gave the boy a small smile, looking deep into his eyes, "You know, I wouldn't have changed anything. All of that worry for you, it's all worth it now that you're safe and with me."
Sherlock couldn't help but smile at the words, though felt his stomach twisting with nerves. What if John tried something again? What if he got scared?
"What is it?" John asked, placing his hand on Sherlock's cheek, gently stroking it with his finger tips. Sherlock simply shook his head and kept silent, though silently edged John on. John looked down to Sherlock's lips and found himself slowly moving forwards, giving the other boy time to say no, but to his surprise, he didn't. Gently, John placed his lips on Sherlock's.
Sherlock realised that he was no longer afraid, as long as John was with him. Slowly, their lips began to work together, allowing a delicate kiss to sweep both boys away from reality.
Finally, John pulled away and placed his forehead against Sherlock's,
"I... I really like you." He whispered, gently caressing the younger boy's cheeks.
Sherlock nodded, "I really like you too." He replied.A blissful moment held the boys there, neither speaking in case it was ruined. However, summer has to turn to autumn, and when the nights begin to draw in, there must be a fall.
