All I felt was pain. Pain in my head and pain running up and down my spine. What had happened? Where was I? Had I traveled? If this is what traveling felt like, I'm done, kill me now, get this necklace off of me. It felt like I'd fallen from a ten story building, landing on my back. I slowly begin to peel my eyes open, sunlight hitting my face, making it hard for my eyes to adjust. When my eyes where finally adjusted I looked around: All I could see were trees, trees, and more trees. Was I still on Earth? It looked like Earth. Not that I have been on any other planet to compare it to. I decided to try and sit up, which was a big mistake as my body began to tremble from the abundant amount of pain I was in.
"You're awake."
I quickly whipped my head around to see where the voice came from standing, which I regretted as I fell back down.
"Stay back or I'll..." I searched the area for something to defend myself with. Quickly grabbing the first thing I could find - a twig - I held it up in front of me. "I will kill you."
"You're going to kill me with a twig?" he asked, crossing his arms and arching his eyebrow.
"Don't underestimate the power of the twig - anything is possible!" I yelled at him, still holding the small twig out in front of me.
He simply stared down at me with a smile on his face. If I was being completely honest, he was kind of cute: a weird emo, nerdy, and geeky, but cute. Tall, with pale skin, and some really nice black curls that fell a little above the ears. I mean I've seen way hotter but we can't all be Zac Efron.
"As much as I would like to see you try to kill me with a twig, I don't think you're ready for combat yet." The young, mysterious man said, pointing down at my pitiful state. I lowered my twig, giving him a death glare to warn him, just in case he tried anything.
"I'm guessing you don't remember me?"
"If I knew you do you think I would have threatened you with a twig?"
"Ben," he said, coming down to my level and extending his hand out to me.
"Amelia," I said, taking his hand shaking it.
"Last night I found you walking around in the woods. I tried to talk to you, but you ran, and when you ran you kinda rolled off a small hill which when you fell you hit your head. I then moved you to where I was camping for the night," Ben explained.
"So I rolled down a hill while running from you and hit my head?" It's good to know all this pain didn't come from traveling - it came from being an idiot.
Falling down a hill? Sounds like something I would do. But, hey, if you saw a man in the woods at night, wouldn't you run?"So, Ben, how do I know if I can trust you?" I asked
"If I wanted to do something to you, don't you think I would have done it while you were passed out?" he asked as I gave him a glare, telling him that I still didn't trust him.
"Well don't try anything, or I'll prove to you that I can do some harm with my twig," I said, bringing my twig back up in the air and pointing it at him one last time before setting it back down.
"If you say so," Ben replied as a smile spread across his face.
"Rest, you'll need your strength. We leave in an hour," Ben said, laying down a few feet away from me.
"Leave? Where are we going?"
"I'm going to take you back to the temple so Master Luke can decide what to do with you."
