"Lily what's going on?" I ask.

"Ok I'll tell you." Lily says.

"I don't have a mom and my dad is often drunk. With that drunkenness comes aggressive behavior towards me. I've been taken away from my father. The closest family that's willing to be my foster family is 100 miles away! So I have to find a foster family that's closer." Lily admits.

"That's why you're here so often... because of your dad." I conclude.

"Well I'll have to ask my mom but you might be able to stay with us." I say.

"Really?" Lily asks.

"Hopefully." I answer.

"Thank goodness!" Says Lily.

"I'll ask my mom in the morning. For now you can just sleep on my couch in my room." I tell her.

It's now the morning... we didn't end up getting any sleep last night. We spent the entire night talking. I walk downstairs sluggishly to search for my mom.

"Mom! Where are you?" I yell.

"I'm in the kitchen!" She replies.

I make my way to the kitchen and sit down on the dining table next to her.

"Hey mom? Have you ever thought about fostering a child?" I ask.

"Suki where is this going?!" She inquires.

"Ok I'm just going to say it! Can we be Lily's foster family?" I question.

"Funny, I thought we already were." She jokes.

"I'm serious! Lily was taken away from her father. The closest family willing to foster lily is 100 miles away! So can we please be her foster family?!" I beg.

"Sure. But I'm going to have to go out and inform the foster people that Lily's okay and that she'll be staying with us."

"Wait seriously?" I ask.

"As long as you walk her and feed her it's okay. I still have to tell your father also but I think he'll be okay with it." She adds.

And with that she rushes out of the house. Probably to work out the details on the fostering considering she doesn't put anything off.

"Yay!" Lily screams from the pantry.

"Well she agreed to that quickly...almost too quick." I infer.
