I smile as I answer my phone. Why wouldn't I when I was about to talk to one of my best friends?"Hey Blubird!" I greet my friend with her old nickname. I flop onto my worn blue and white comforter and stare at my hideous yellow walls.
"Hey Nivs. How's it goin?"
"Haha 'Nivs'," I laugh at my own nickname. Kicking my shoes off and listening to the thud they make when they hit the dark hardwood floors.
"Nothin much really just eternally freaking out about my Wish," I respond with a shrug.
"Oh my God, I know. We have to talk about that I'm so happy for you Nivia. Whenever we talk about it I get all emotional." She says with a laugh. "Have they told you anything about it yet?"
"Well. Yes and no. I'm still hopelessly confused," I say with a sigh.
"Well what happened? Tell me Nivia," she asks, interested.
"Nothing, really, but I got an update. I just don't know why they're all so vague! Like can you just tell me what's going on so I can mentally prepare myself?" I reply slightly exasperated.
"Woah. Slow down girl. Tell me what they said!" she says with humor in her voice.
I started to recount the story to her of how I found out the news and checked my email a few times hoping there's a new email that was'nt just an ad.
"Wow, well that tells me absolutely nothing," she finally replies sounding about as confused and dissapointed in the information as I felt when I recieved it.
"I know!" I exclaim. "I at least thought that I'd get some type of hint as to what would happen how I would meet him or something..."
"Well don't worry, ok? I know whatever happens it will be great," my friend reassures me.
"Yeah I know it will be. I'm just over-thinking it. But I've kept my mail alerts on ever since just in case I get some news."
That change turned out to be a tad bit annoying as I got a little sound notifying me of EVERY EMAIL. it wouldn't be so bad if I didn't get tons of useless ones that filled my inbox to the brim."Well that's good. At least you'll know as soon as the news is sent. "
'That's if I don't turn it off first' I thought to myself. Ironically, I hear the sound that has been the source of my annoyance for days."Well there's another email," I say to her.
"Haha. Ooh what if it's Justin. You better hurry up and check it," she teases saying what I would normally say.
"Yeah, I will it's probably nothing." I tell her trying not to get my hopes up, I swing my jean clad legs back and forth.
"Maybe but 'Never Say Never'," she quotes Justin's motto making me want to roll my eyes.
"But Nivia how's your health? I've been meaning to ask you."
As I slowly make my way to the little blue mail app on my phone I respond, "Eh. I'm fine, I just got out of the hospital a while ago. But I'm ok. I've just been feeling kinda down which isn't normal for me."
Being sick never really phased me for long."Oh well I'm happy you're ok. I know you'll bounce back soon." When I don't respond she starts talking again.
"Nivia? What are you doing?"In a shaky voice I reply, "Email," in a whisper.
"Email? Did you get one? Is it from them?" she asks confused.
I stare at my screen not hearing her anymore. I can't hear anything except for the high pitched high volumed screaming going on in my head. I would think it was my own but I was too shocked to make noise.
On my screen was an email from the Make-A-Wish team telling me when, where, and how I would meet Justin.
