The day finally came... I was going to propose to Maly today! I was overexcited, and Kayla did what was planned. She took her daughter out shopping, and the rest of us headed to the Courtyard Marriott an hour early. I spoke with her brothers and their wives. The children were wound up and wanted to get things going. Before I knew it, Maly and Kayla came.
Ethon took his daughter by the hand and walked her over to where I stood. I was standing on a rock by the shore of the river in which three to four people could stand on. I extended my hand toward Maly, she took it, and I pulled her over toward me.
I hugged her and told her, "unlike all of the other women I have met, you are the only one that I want to spend my life with. When I first saw your face, I had a strong feeling that you were the one for me. I've seen your worst, but I still think you're the best. I have called you my forever, my everything, and my best friend every single time I talk about you. I'm going to keep it short and sweet, but..." My voice broke because I was about about to cry, but I told her, "I love you with all my heart, Malyssa Jaline Chantae Venston."
"I love you more," Maly replied.
I got down on one knee, opened the box with the ring inside, batted my eyes at her, and asked, "will you marry me?"
Once Maly saw the ring, she immediately gasped; then she covered her face, turned on the waterworks, and started shaking. I smiled at that, and when she wiped her tears away, she said, "yes! Of course I will!"
"What did she say?" My mom asked.
"She said yes!"
Everyone cheered and clapped, I slid the ring onto Maly's finger, and I hugged her and kissed her all over.
She was still crying and shaking, and I cried along with her for a bit. I led her back up to the building, and Kayla got us our own hotel room.
"I know something you don't!" Kayla yelled.
Every single one of us laughed.
"What is it?" Maly asked.
"Jeremy called his mom a few months ago and asked for help with the proposal, and she goes, 'talk to Malyssa's parents. They know her like the back of their hands. Kayla Venston is the trickiest bitch I have ever fucking known!'"
My mom automatically started laughing at those specific words she said herself, and so did everyone else.
"I had no idea that was gonna happen, you got me really good! You are a filthy liar!"
"I know I am. I used that to get you two engaged!"
As the two laughed and joked, I was hugging and kissing Maly.
"Before we know it, they'll be Mr. and Mrs. Cox!" my mom said.
"I know it! I am so excited for my daughter!" Kayla replied, then she started tearing up.
Maly and I played in the hotel pool and socialized for a bit, then we went to bed. When we slept, we both slept very deeply. In fact, we didn't wake up until nine o'clock in the morning.
