"Y/n you're going to be late!"

Today is the big day. The day I've been preparing for my whole life. Today I go off to college. The past week I have been packing and getting ready for this exact moment. Now it's here.

"Coming mom!" I rush down the stairs, careful not to miss a step. I'm a straight A student; have been my whole life. This is where I need that most. I need to make the perfect first impression with all of my teachers. I've got one shot.

I say goodbye to my cat, Zoey, as I walk out the door. Before removing my foot from the doorstep, I turn and look at the house in leaving behind. Suddenly a rush of memories run through my head. My little brother first starting to walk, my best friend Liv and I fangirling over Shawn's new cover of our favorite song, bringing Zoey home for the first time. It all comes back. I take a deep breath, turn around, and let it out. This is it.

I feel someone shaking my shoulder, and open my eyes to see that I've arrived. I slept most of the way, and now I'm as tired as can be. But, I still have to get up and get moving. I have a lot to do on my first day. My mom hands me a piece of paper.

"This has today's schedule-what you're doing and when you're doing it," she says. I look down and see that I start out by unpacking, of course, and leave for lunch at noon. After lunch, I get to go around and meet my teachers. I have the rest of the day free.

"Thank you, Mom." I turn around an give her a big hug, and I feel a teardrop land on my head. I'm trying not to cry as well. "I'm really going to miss you."

"I better get going," she says. "Your brother is waiting at home." With that, she turns on her heels and gets into the car. "I love you, y/n."

"I love you too," I respond. I watch her as she drives away. I'm officially here, officially away from home. Friends, family; everything is left behind now. I start walking towards my dorm.

After I unpack, I start to feel my stomach growl. I haven't eaten all day. My roommate hasn't come yet, but I decide to go get some lunch now an introduce myself later. I head towards the cafeteria. As I'm walking, I can start to kind of see the different groups of people I'm going to be dealing with. There's some girls squealing and hugging each other, dressed in the opposite of age appropriate clothes. I see the jocks, punching each others shoulders and tossing the football around. I see the shy kids, sitting away from everyone eating their lunch alone. And I see the knuckleheads, having a food fight and seeing who can eat their sandwich the fastest. I can already tell this is going to be a long couple of years.

The cafeteria is a small area with different food carts scattered around. It's not too crowded yet; I got here kind of early. I grab a soda and sandwich and sit down to eat. I want to finish quick. I'm eager to meet my teachers. I take the last couple bites of my sandwich and head out.

My first teacher is named Mr. Reeves. He's my english teacher, he's somewhat old, but very kind. He has a great sense of humor and does not let his age get to him. There's a couple other people in the classroom. I try and pick out some people to later on introduce myself to. I check the time and get moving to my next classroom. The next teacher's name is Mrs. Parker. She's my life science teacher, and she's younger looking and as sweet as can be. I'm excited to be in her class room. I'm having a conversation with Mrs. Parker when I hear a familiar voice. I quickly turn around and immediately I melt inside. My heart stops. My eyes bulge. My muscles tense. Matthew Espinosa is goes to my college.
