A New Life

Chapter One: A Fresh Start

I woke up to the annoying sound of my alarm signaling a new day.

Turning around I turned it off and kissed Nick before I get off and start my everyday routine. He opened his eyes and kissed me making me feel all the love in the world.

The love I never thought I would feel after Nash's death.

"What time is it?" He caressed my cheek.

"6 o clock. Go back to sleep." I planted a kiss on his forehead and got up.

I hoped into the shower and did my morning routine. Wrapping a towel around my body I got out and picked some clothes for work.

It's a big day at the office today.

Oh, sorry I forgot to tell what I do. I'm a civil engineer in an office in New York. I moved here after I graduated without telling anyone. I just wanted to leave everything behind. Its been four years since Nash's pass and his ghost still haunts me sometimes.

After I got dressed I started preparing my breakfast, when two hands grabbed my waist and I turned to look at his brown eyes.

"Why are you up?" I leaned into his chest.

"You know I can't sleep when you're gone." He answered and kissed my neck making me shiver.

"Do you want breakfast? I made some toast, I can make you some eggs if you want." I took a bite from my honeyed toasted slice of bread.

"No I'm good. I'll head home get ready and go to the shop." He kissed my nose. "Do you want me to drop you off?" He walked away.

"No I'll take the sub. Thanks thou." I finished my breakfast and continued getting ready by doing my make up and hair.

"You look gorgeous." Nick said popping his head through the bathroom door.

"Thank you babe." I smiled and looked down.

"What's wrong?" He grabbed my chin.

"Nothing. Just stressed with work. I really want to get that project. I think I'm really good for it."

"You're the best. You know it girl!" He hugged me. "Gotta run, but will I see you tonight?" He yelled as he walked out of the bathroom and I followed him.

"Yeah. I finish work around 8." I leaned against the wall.

"Great I'll pick you up. Dinner date!" He kissed me and walked out of my apartment before I could say bye.

Nick owns a bookstore down town in Manhattan. He took over his father and really loves his job.

That's how we met. He offered me his help in the shop and I bought him coffee. Long story short we are together for over a year now.

After I finished my major in architecture and civically engineering I came in New York to work. Now with my good luck in my 22 years I work at a very successful company, have a beautiful apartment and a loving boyfriend.

I left that broken girl behind. Along with my family and friends. I only keep touch with my mom and Ry. But non of them knows I live in New York.

Crazy I know but I don't want anyone telling me what to do and how to live. As long as I'm fine they don't have to know.

I walked to the subway station that's near my apartment and got into the platform not wanting to be late at work.

The thing I love about New York its the people. They may be busy and running so they won't be late but they will always stop to help someone or appreciate the street artists.
