I try to hold the anger inside my throat but something within me tells me that I need to teach him a leason for messing with Tori Mason. The hem of my baggy t-shirt is held tightly in my fists to hold down my anger. But the only way I can release my anger now, is to kick him.
"Asshole!" I kick Austin hard in his leg. He groans in pain and bent over to hold his leg(the one I kicked). He lets out a weak cry and lay on the ground-facing the ceiling with his eyes closed. His body is all tensed up and his face is now in boiling red. Guilt hit me when I realised I hit him too hard. Well, my dad used to force me to pick up martial arts. I frown and bite my nails. (I always bite my nails when I'm nervous). I have no idea what to do. I bent down next to him-apologizing as well.
"I'm sorry Austin, I... I-" I am so nervous that I start stammering. What if he becomes cripple? I will have to own him for the rest of my life! I can fetch him to school as soon as I get my license. Or I can help him with his- Oh no! He is the quaterback of our school. The only hope that we can win the East Mount High. What have I done! I'm a dead meat.
Suddenly, Austin bursts into hysterical laughter. "Oh my Gosh Tori! You should see your face! It's priceless!" I look at him in confuse. He sits up beside me and continues jeering at me. I was worried sick that he might be hurt and now he is laughing at me because I fall for his prank? "You think you can hurt me by kicking me like that? You're naive, Tori! "
Anger starts to boil under my thorat but I force it back. I fail to hold my emotion and tears stream down from my face. I run my fingers through my hair. "Do you have any idea how afraid I am?" I ask monotonously. "What if I really hurt your leg? Who is going to play as the mighty quaterback!" I look at Austin and I see his wide-opened eyes. He must be shocked at my reaction. "Urgh, nevermind."
"Tori, I-" I get up on my feet before he tries to say anything. Class started for 15 minutes and I do not want to get in class looking like this(blood shot eyes, wet face, messy hair). I walk towards the restroom. My hand is grabbed and I swing to the back-crashing into Austin's chest. "Ouch!" I take a step back after crashing into his stone hard chest-touching my nose and making sure that it is still attached to my face.
"I'm sorry Tori,"Austin apologizes. I look up and see a frowning face. His hands reach out to cup my face (and I freak out, thinking that he wants to kiss me). He wipes away the tears on my cheeks and says, "I didn't know you will freak out like that." He puts down his hands from my face and slide them into his jeans pockets. Is this another prank?
"If you're thinking is this another prank, you're wrong. I apologize to you Tori Mason." I see sincerity in his eyes and for this time, I let my guard down. It's really hard to predict Austin Harrington's move. "I know you wanna get to class but trust me," he smiles. The smile he wears is different from Andrew's. Andrew's smile is genuine and kind. But Austin's smile is flirty and that's how he got girls' heart hooked on to him. I now know why people can differentiate the both of them easily. "You'll get nothing but detention after school. Come on." Austin grabs my hand and leads me out the hallway-to the Table of Wonders.
I stand before the table, daze. I wonder what is with the sudden changes in Austin. He turns back and says, "Oh c'mon! Don't you remember this table?" "Of course I do, it's just that..." "Just what? You still think slow like a tortoise." He scoffs.
"Austin," I call him. There is so many question in my head about Austin and I demand answers from him."Do you hate me?"
"No I don't," he shakes his head in confused.
"Then why did you keep picking on me?"
"No I didn't," his lips curl up and eyes lock on mine. I stare at his eyes but after a few seconds, I look away. They are too beautiful to be stared at, just like Andrew's. He realises I am staring at his face and curls his lips into his trademark smirk. I feel my cheeks heating up and look away. To cover up the awkwardness, I continue.
"You stopped talking to me. You teased me in front of your friends. You even threw away my favourite notebook!"
"I hate that notebook."
"It wasn't yours in the first place!"
Austin remains silence and lock his gaze on me. His face turns expressionless as if he falls into deep thoughts but still, his eyes bore into mine. He then lets out a small chuckle and says, "I always think you look hot when you're angry, that's it." He shrugs.
"That's it? Are you serious?" Unbelievable.
He shrugs again. I shake my head and inhale deeply.
"Then why do you treat me like this now?"
"You don't like to be treated like this baby girl?" He lowers his head and a glint of sunlight shines on his face- giving him an extra radiant.
"Don't call me baby girl," I cross my arms over my chest. "I'm not one of them." I protest.
"One of them?"
"Yes, the girls in front of your locker everyday. I see different girls each day waiting in front of you locker, some the same. But I guess you are quite picky on girls too."
"I sense some jealousy in you, baby girl." He keeps his voise low and husky. His eyes are still on me.
"I said stop calling me baby girl!"
"Told you you look hot when you're angry, baby girl."
I let out a long frustrated sigh.
Some of you might wonder why Austin's attitude towards Tori changes as fast as in a snap of fingers. Please stay with me to find out more!
