"Hopefully the car doesn't stink" I said as we get in the car. "So no one can get suspicious"
"I highly doubt that but another reason why we gotta keep moving" Delirious explains. He puts the key into the ignition and turns it, making the engine roar to life.
"Don't you think the drive would trample with the evidence?" I question.
"No, not really. Nothing that Moo can't handle anyways" Delirious backs up the car and drove into the street.
"You really have a lot of faith on Moo" I point out.
"Of course, I do. I trust him just like the rest of my gang" Delirious hum.
"How did y'all meet?" I wonder.
"Okay, listen. None of this, whatever you are doing." Delirious commands.
"Hey, I'm just asking questions. I don't want this ride to be so suffocating" I defended myself.
"Okay, let's just get one thing straight. After this heist, you are gone. You are going back whenever you came from" Delirious explains.
"You don't need to tell me twice. I will be gone, matter of fact, you are keeping me here." I scoff.
"Just giving you a heads-up cause once this is over, don't expect us to give you a place to crash once you get back on your feet."
"I don't expect to." I snap. "I already stay long enough than I already want to"
A ding interrupted our conversation from getting any further. Delirious lifted his body while grabbing the wheel and reached behind, getting his phone. Delirious looked at his phone and up at the street, paying attention where he was going. I roll my eyes at him and look out the car window.
Is this even worth it?
Memories of my brother flashed and my heart pounded in my ears.
It's been too long
I didn't have a good enough sleep without the screams of terror in my brain.
It's wasn't that affected as much as when I was alone
I must have took my mind off it for a while.
I never lasted this far
The whole ride, no words were exchange. The music was filling up the tension between me and Delirious. We had to put gas, we use this time to go use the restroom and get some snacks for the road.
"Shouldn't we look for a motel?" I said, looking out the window. It started getting dark, the sun was setting.
"Yeah, it's getting dark out" Delirious sigh.
"Yeah, thanks for pointing that out. Didn't exactly notice" I roll my eyes
"Shut up" Delirious grab his phone from the cup holder, tapping away. "It's 23 minutes away, good enough"
"I could use a shower" I said.
And a kill
"No kidding" Delirious chuckle and placed his phone back into the cup holder. "I don't know if it was you or the corpse"
"What do we do know about NightCrew and the folder?" I ask.
"Well, they moved their base after we attack it, two years ago. Hopefully another shipment comes up and instead of destroying it, we could follow it. We are going to keep a low profile, now that we made our 'announcement'" Delirious explains.
"Announcement? What announcement" I question
"That we're back" Delirious grins
"Why did you leave?"
"Needed a break"
"From the 'lifestyle'?"
"You could say that"
"How come-"
"Shut up, Vanoss" Delirious interrupted me.
Right, I forgot
I roll my eyes and look out the window. It was probably the only thing I could do in this car drive. Delirious turned on the radio and switch through the channels until he stop when a music was playing then it was back to people talking and he turn it off.
Silence...
Silence...
"Okay, I am-" I broke the silence.
"Vanoss" Delirious warn.
"Listen, it's just. The silence, it's- it's suffocating" I groan "and the music sucks"
I never had a problem with the silence before. I need silence for my skills, why is it bothering me now?
"I tired and couldn't anything good. I for one enjoy the silence" Delirious explains.
As do I
"Well try harder if you want me to be quiet"
"Why can't you just be quiet?"
"I don't- just forget it" I gave up.
Silence...
Silence...
Silence...
And I open my mouth when Delirious spoke for me.
"This is getting annoying"
"What-" The car sped up and the speed force me onto my seat. We zoom by cars who then honk at us.
It wasn't fast to what I was use to but for a rental car and haven't gotten a lick of action, it was enough to get my blood pumping.
The adrenaline rush through me, I started to laugh hearing the honks. I couldn't stop smiling as I watch everything zoom by pass me.
Soon, we arrive at the hotel parking lot much faster than we intended to and without any cops chasing our tail, surprisedly.
"Holy shit, that was awesome" I examined as I get out of the car. I look at Delirious who had a bright smile on his face, looking down.
The adrenaline wasn't coming off, more as if it was like increasing. My heart beats faster, louder and pounded in my ears.
"Alright, let's go check in" Delirious looks up at me, still smiling. My stomach turn and flip.
I think I'm gonna be sick.
We enter the lobby and met a man who was wearing a button up gray shirt in the front office.
"Hello, the name is Andy. Need a room?" Andy question.
"No shi-"
"Yeah, two beds please" Delirious cuts me off.
"Yeah, no problem. One night?" Andy asks.
"Yes, please" Delirious answers.
"That would be 29.99 dollars and the wifi is free" Andy explains. Delirious reaches into his back pocket and pulls out a wallet then pulls out a credit card. Delirious hands to Andy who then swipes it.
"Alright, your room would be 109" Andy hands us the key that he grab from it's holder "Enjoy your stay"
"Thank you" Delirious said as we exit through the door and look for the room number.
