My throat was so sore I couldn't talk.
After being dragged screaming all the way to my room on the highest floor, whose throat wouldn't be? Not only that, but my cheeks were tear-stained and a flushed pink. I was thrown into my room, the door slammed and locked behind me.
I looked around my room, burning with rage. The balcony doors had massive bars, and I ran up to them. Reaching my hand through the bars, I couldn't even grasp the handle. With a huge lump in my throat, I collapsed to the ground in front of my bed, sobbing. Why was Brayan doing this?
As if on cue, the door opened and Brayan came in, smiling his fake yet warm smile. "Hello, Rowena,"I stared him down, the hurt and betrayal in my heart forming a painful feeling of rage. "Why are you doing this?" I croaked, and he laughed, swaggering over to me. He leaned closer, and whispered in my ear;
"You didn't think I actually loved you, did you?"
I scrambled away. "What are you talking about?"
He looked at his nails, his smile never fading. "I'd call it doing something for the country," My expression was still a mixture of hurt and confusion, so he continued. "You left the castle to go on some magical journey to save the world. People think you're insane."
"Don't do this," I said, shaking my head, as I already knew what he had started to say.
He held my chin delicately. "What a great king I'd be, the one that married the lunatic. People will love me. And I'll be king,"
"You'll be a monster, too," I said, swatting his hand away. "
He smiled wickedly, and I was uneasy. "Are not you excited?" He laughed a deep, scary laugh.
"For what?"
"Why our wedding, of course. It's tomorrow,"
My heart dropped another level. "I will not marry you," I croaked.
"I'm sorry, but you have no choice. It's already been planned out. And you'll look so beautiful in your wedding gown,"
He stood up and threw me another sickening sweet smile before heading to the door. "No!" I screamed, and grabbed a vase off a counter. He turned and I threw it at his head. Just in time, he shielded his face, but the glass still shattered on impact. He removed his hand slowly as the glass tinkled underneath; blood dripped down gashes in his face. He wasn't smiling anymore, and quickly I got between him and his exit.
"You're going to wish you hadn't done that," he whispered, he lunged for me and grabbed my wrists, throwing me to the side. I grasped at his shirt, my nails digging into his skin, and pulled him before he kicked me down. I tumbled into a table, sending it crashing down, plates shattering. Dazed, I grabbed at something, but that something happened to be a curtain, and I accidentally pulled it off the brackets and over myself. Brayan laughed as I struggled to get up. "I won't let you," I said, breathing heavily, "I won't let you get away with this,"
He only smiled wider. "Oh, but I already have," he said, and locked the door on his way out,"
