For 40 days and nights,
You stayed in the desert.
Resisting all temptation,
You showed us the power
of Your Word,
against the tricks of the devil.
Suffered
at the hands of Your people;
yet with love,
You sacrificed Yourself
(martyred on our behalf.)
You freed us
from the shackles of sin,
that we may proclaim that
Christ · is · Risen!
