Jason had all his plans carefully mapped out. For a week, he had ignored Percy. He overheard him talking to Frank.
"I think Jason's okay with me now? Well, at least I hope he is."
In your dreams, Jackson. If anything, he had only wanted to kill him even more. The way he so carelessly walked around camp as if Jason wasn't plotting his demise.
Hahaha. All the better for him not to know.
There it was again, the dark voice. If anything could sound like the color black, it was the nasty voice in his head.
He re-read his plans for the 4th time today. Just as he was going over the 24th sentence, Chiron knocked on his door. "Grace! Quick!"
"Yes, Chiron?"
"There are monsters outside of our border trying to get in. I'm sending you and Percy to go deal with them. It should be a breeze," He said quickly.
"Yes sir." He got up from his desk, carefully storing the sheets away under his pillow.
--
The monsters were huge.
"What are those?"
"I dunno." Jason slashed at one of its legs. Brown blood gushed out of the ankle as the monster let out a screech of pain. The wound slowly closed back up as Jason wiped sweat from his brow. One of the giant, mud-like monsters swung an arm and him and Percy yelled, "Watch out!" Jason ducked as Percy swung Riptide around, creating a small hurricane. "Grace! Wind!" Jason pushed a gust of air at the small hurricane, which grew in size. They struggled to keep it away from the border and the monsters were pushed back away from the border. They slowly, and sloppily surged forwards, grabbing for Percy. He rolled to the side and lifted water from the nearest water source, using it as an extension of his arm. "JASON!" Jason let electricity fly from his fingers, into the long, octopus-like arm. Percy let out a yell of pain as his arm was singed by the spark. The water arm slashed at the monster's leg and completely sliced it off, and the monster screamed a horrible cry. Jason turned to nod at Percy, but he was already surfing forwards on a huge wave. Jason leaped into the air, propelling himself forwards with wind. He struck the one with one leg with a bolt of electricity. The monster screamed in pain and Jason jabbed his gladiator into its eye. He pushed, sending a small gust of wind that knocked the thing off balance. Before the monster could brace itself, he launched forwards, his feet coming into contact with the creature's chest. The creature toppled down onto the ground and Percy yelled, "GO FOR THE NECK!" Jason stabbed downwards and the monster let out a sound Jason had never heard before. Percy lunged from behind him and gave a battle cry, stabbing down into the thing's heart. It choked on air and began to turn into ashes. Percy hefted his sword out of the dirt and grinned at Jason. Jason turned to look for the other monster, but it was gone. Percy already killed it? He thought a little incredulously. They stared at the upturned dirt. Jason rolled his eyes and started towards camp.
"The barrier." Percy gently touched the cracked surface. He raised some water from the ground and spread it over the crack. It mended and the split surface was gone.
"Wait, where did you learn that?"
Percy only smiled. Jason grunted in annoyance.
"Hey, dude, by the way, what's up with you? You've been acting kind of weird, ignoring me and stuff."
"Nothing you don't know about." Jason stopped and a sinister grin spread over his face. "Well, actually, a lot you don't know about." He turned to face Percy, who had an annoying confused look on his face.
"One day, I will be the downfall of Percy Jackson. And you will be there to witness it." His eyes raked Percy's. The son of Poseidon shrugged and laughed. "If you say so, Grace."
