When I got home to my messy apartment I immediately took off my boots and collapsed onto my queen sized bed. I let out a groan of frustration. What had I gotten myself into.

I shamefully grazed my lips with my finger, replaying the moments I had had with Van. I then decided I should put on some music to get out of my mind for a bit. I decided on something that wasn't The Stone Roses as this would just trigger more memories of my drunken night.

After getting through the first half of the Tame Impala album I felt much more relaxed and therefore decided to do some of my sociology uni work. It wasn't due for a while but I really couldn't find anything else productive to do.

I was dreading going back to uni in the spring, the only thing keeping me going being the thought of my Foreign Exchange to south of France in the summer. I couldn't wait to feel the sun on my skin again, as it was something I'd longed for ever since I moved to this town.

Interrupted from my thoughts I heard my home phone ring, I picked it up staring oddly at the device. I hadn't used my home phone since my parents sent it to me as a housewarming present and I really hadn't planned on using it. As I held the phone to my ear I immediately recognized Sacha's voice booming through the speaker.

"Thea you better have a good excuse for leaving without a proper goodbye!" I could tell from her tone that she was joking but I still winced at my forgetfulness.

"Fuck sorry mate, I got caught up with Van I guess.." I mentioned, hoping she could give me some insight on his true intentions.

"Yeah I saw that, locked my room and everything." She teased.

"Sach, give it to me straight, is he a total dick?" I finally let down my guard, she didn't mind.

"No no, I mean from what I know he's a stand up guy, he's a flirt for sure but yeah I wouldn't know better than you."
She added.

"Okay yeah that sounds promising I guess, I'll just see what happens. But you know, I'm leaving for the summer anyway." I said, trying to convince myself.

"I don't know Thea, don't shut out your emotions, if it's meant to happen it will." She reassured.

"Tell me what happens though, you know it'll eat me up if I'm not updated." She joked, but I knew she wasn't kidding.

"Don't worry, you'll be the first to know." I added.

"Alright perfect then, I've gotta run but text me if you want to meet up sometime yeah?" She carried on.

"Yes my lovely." I grinned.

We said our brief goodbyes before hanging up.

Sacha always knew the right things to say but I still felt somewhat on edge about Van. I was so attracted to him, it scared me. I didn't want to seem weak to him but at the same time I couldn't just keep my guard up forever.

After thinking it through to the sound of Alex Turner's voice, my playlist having a mind of its own, I decided that I should stop overthinking it. Which sounds ridiculous. How does one even think about not thinking?
Anyway, there was no point in not seeing Van again as he made me feel good but I shouldn't expect anything too serious like a relationship because we were both busy with our carriers. That it unless it just happened to become a relationship. Basically, I would take it how it came and try my best to make somewhat sensible decisions.

- 5 days later -

I was in my room painting the view outside my window as the sky wasn't dull for once, when I was interrupted by my excessively loud ringtone.
I brought the phone up to my ear answering without thinking,

"Ello?" I said placing the paintbrush in between my teeth to wipe down my left hand clean of the white paint.

"Hey, it's Van." I immediately became very flustered.

"What's up?" I said trying to sound nonchalant but failing miserably. I cringed at myself.

"Euhm, this might sound odd but, did you mean it when you said you wanted to hear me play the other day in the car?" He spoke fast.

I smiled into the phone,
"Nah, I was taking the piss." I smirked before quickly killing the joke with a childish giggle.
"Of course I meant it, why?" I questioned.

"You're such a twat." He laughed before adding, "We have a gig in town tonight and I want you there." He spoke confidently.

"Give me a time and the name of the bar and I'll make sure to make an appearance." I smirked.

"8:30 at the Citrus bar downtown." He answered.

"Alright, see you then tiger." I laughed and he joined in at the mention of the nickname he'd given me the night we met.

"You can't use that, that's my thing." He spoke his voice deeper for some reason.

"You've got to stop calling me that by the way." I announced, dismissing his previous comment.

"And why is that love?" I could tell he was smiling by his tone.

"My old history teacher used to call me that all the time. And well whenever you say it I just picture him instead of you don't I."I confessed, though it was an exaggeration. I just wanted to have a go at him.

"Oh so what you're saying is that while I thought we were having a great night together, yous was thinking about your history teacher?" He pushed.

"Exactly." I announced.

"Well we've got to fix that don't we." He said suggestively.

"I guess we do."
