Angelica POV
His hand grazed her cheek and she reached up to grasp it. Her fingers passed through his. She looked up and couldn't seem to make out his face. "Angelica. Angelica!"Angelica awoke from her sleep to face her wealthy husband, John Barker Church. "Good morning, John. It's a nice morning, isn't it?" She looked out the window to see the sun had risen already. "I guess I slept in too long."
"Just a bit."
Angelica stepped out of bed onto the cold wood floor. She looked at her husband. It hadn't even been a year since they eloped. She sighed and went to the bathroom.
John wasn't her type of man. He was nice, don't get her wrong. However, she only married him to get her foot into a better life, the life she wanted.
Growing up, Angelica's family was wealthy, but as she got older, money became tighter. John was her way to money. Sure he was eight years older than her at age 30 and wasn't very handsome, but the money was something she couldn't pass up.
Now she lives in a mansion with multiple bedrooms and parlors in London. She has her bedroom, scratch that, her suite to herself. Angelica didn't even have to see her husband if she didn't feel like it. And she could do anything she wants, such as trips to visit her family in America or go on long walks in their maze, a harder place for John to find her and a great place for her to think.
Angelica removed her expensive silk nightgown that John had brought back from his business trip to China. She turned the water all the way hot and sat there with her eyes closed. Who was the man in her dream? Surely it couldn't have been John, she didn't feel that way about him. This man's voice was much sweeter to the sound, his touch more gentle.
Once her fingers began to prune, Angelica turned the shower off. Her phone buzzed as she wrapped her hair in a towel. It was a text from none other than Alexander Hamilton. A smile formed on her beautiful face and she opened it:
My dearest, Angelica,
The days without you here in America are longer and even more miserable if possible. It would be nice to see your face back home, it has been awhile. And I'm sure Eliza would love to have you home.
AlexanderHer heart practically melted. Alexander was such a charmer- woah, Angelica, slow down. He's dating your little sister and you're married. Anyways, he was just a flirt, he obviously didn't feel anything special for her. She felt a pain in her chest thinking about him. With all she had, Angelica wished she could go back to that night months ago.
The memories of his hands grazing her body and his lips on hers made her heart ache. After that night, Angelica knew she loved Alexander. The only problem was that Eliza did too. And being the older sister she was, Angelica let Eliza have him. She knew her sister would be aching just like she was now, and Angelica would never want that for Eliza.
She read the message over and over again until she caught something, "My dearest, Angelica." There was a comma after dearest. She screenshotted the message and responded:
"Alexander,
I'm sure that you mean nothing by this, but I noticed a comma in the middle of a phrase, it changed the meaning. Did you intend this? You wrote "My dearest, Angelica", with a comma after dearest.
AngelicaShe strolled into her closet in her robe and grabbed a pink blouse, black skinny jeans, and her pumps. After getting dressed she walked down to the kitchen. The maids were preparing lunch. Angelica looked at the clock, it was nearly noon. They tried to give her food, but she turned it down saying she wasn't hungry.
She instead walked outside, grabbing her coat on the way out. The cobblestone path had a thin sheet of snow over it, but Angelica could still see where it led to the green house.
When she moved in, Angelica insisted there be a green house so she could still go out there in the winter. She just needed to get away.
The door creaked open and slammed behind her once she was inside. Hot air flushed her cheeks and she ripped the coat off. It was almost her 23rd birthday and she didn't want to think about not being able to spend it at home.
Angelica sat on a bench near the fountain and pulled a book out of her large coat pocket. She began re-reading Twilight. How Bella loved 2 boys made her jealous. She couldn't even love one. Angelica, this is the life you have always wanted. But wait- even if you weren't married, Alexander would still belong to your little sister.
Her eyes started to water until she blinked the tears away. She stayed in the green house until one of the maids called her in at John's request.

Angelica sat in her rocking chair in one of the parlors waiting for John to come in. She was nervous. John scared her sometimes. But it's okay, he provides for you.
The floor creaked and Angelica turned around to see John in the doorway. "Hello," he smiled as he walked over to her.
"Hi, John."
"I have an early birthday gift for you."
"Really?" Angelica became worried, but she didn't know why.
"Yep, come on." He put his arm around her shoulders and kissed her cheek.
Angelica's stomach did a flip. His kisses weren't delightful, Not like Alexander's- Angelica, stop!
John let her upstairs. The old, large house had a draft to it and she got the chills. "In this room," he said when they approached the door of an empty bedroom. "Ready?"
"As ready as I'll ever be."
Angelica squinted her eyes shut as John opened the door and led her inside. "Okay, you can open now," he laughed.
She didn't want to open her eyes, but did anyways. What she saw made her stomach drop as well as her jaw.
John had transformed the room into a nursery. She saw a crib in the corner of the room and a rocking chair. And there was a bay window with pillows on it. A bookshelf sat on a wall filled with books.
"John-"
He interrupted, "I know it's a bit of a shock, but now that you're 23, I feel like it's a good time for us to begin a family. The house is so big and lonely."
"Oh."
"And I'm already 30, going on 31, I'm not getting any younger."
Angelica, with her quick wit, said, "John, I think I might be taking a trip back home for my birthday, alone. You need to stay here and work. My sisters have been missing me and I miss them, too."
John frowned, "You don't like it, do you?"
"No, I do. It's just a bit of a shock to me, that's all."
"Okay. When are you leaving?"
"Next week, I think."
"Alright. I love you, Angelica," he wrapped his large arms around her.
She resentfully hugged him back, "I love you too, John."
"I can't wait to start a family with you."
"Mhm," she mumbled.
How was she going to get out of this?
