"miracles"

one month later
jace's sweaty hair was swept back into place with his hand, his stance not faltering at all.

the stick in my hand felt like a twig compared to jace's weaponless body, he had more angelic blood in his body than me, surely that wasn't fair.

the training floor shook as jace ran towards me, but i twirled to my left, watching him skid to a halt with a grin.

"you're fast, but you're not as strong as me." jace threw a punch at me, which i blocked with my metal stick.

his leg raised to kick me in the stomach but i bashed his knee before it could get any higher. "can we take a break? i'm tired."

jace didn't respond, he just threw the stick out of my hand using a strong force. with my stick gone, i felt powerless.

i threw a soft punch at his jaw, but he caught it and stuck his foot behind mine, tripping me so i landed on the floor. "now we can take a break."

his interval was just in time for me to tend to my phone ringing. "hello, what's up magnus?"

"we think romero is waking up." before magnus could say anything else i hung up and raced out of the institute.

heavy footsteps followed after me, jace was running beside me. "why are we running?"

"romero, he's waking up."

unlike my previous intrusions into magnus' home, i took careful steps this time, not wanting to alarm my brother if he was awake

unlike my previous intrusions into magnus' home, i took careful steps this time, not wanting to alarm my brother if he was awake.

"i didn't think i'd wake up at all, but it's a bonus to wake up to a pretty girl in front of me." romero's charm floated throughout the building, his voice echoing off of the walls.

"he sounds like you." i whispered over my shoulder to jace.

i hung back by a corner to observe him at first, crying silently as he smiled up at jena. he was entranced by her and he deserved to be happy.
