Alright so the Star Wars fandom seems to have made up a mind of its own when it comes to particular topics and theories (*cough*hanshotfirst*cough*), some of which are a little far fetched. So, as the nerd that I am, I present to you a few of my own 'unpopular' opinions about the franchise.
1. The Prequels Flopped Because of the Script
Okay, I know there's a lot of people on this site who love the prequels. I mean it's hard not to when you've got Hayden Christensen's beautiful face to stare at. But I'm also the first to admit that the prequels were kind of a flop when it comes to the script. I mean, the lines were cheesy, the dialogue was terrible, and even I (a know Anakin stan) cringed pretty hard at some of my poor child's words. Even Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford have admired before the George Lucas sucked as a script writer, and they had to improvise a lot of the scenes from the original trilogy to make it flow better. Don't get wrong, George Lucas was a phenomenal director and revolutionised the film industry. But let's be honest here people, he should leave the script writing to the professionals.2. Obi-Wan's fight scene in The Phantom Menace is the best
Yes, I know that pretty much everyone thinks that Anakin vs. Obi-Wan in RotS is the best, but please just let me explain why I prefer this scene. First of all, the fight in RotS is obviously packed with major feels, but to me felt almost too exaggerated in terms of fighting style. I mean, flipping over lava Anakin, really? That's just extra™ even for you. And Obi-Wan (god bless my precious husband) was brilliant against Maul. The way the pacing picked up after Qui-Gon's death and Obi-Wan's expression throughout the duel really made it the best one, in my opinion anyway.3. Attack of the Clones is the worst film in the franchise
Okay, so before Anidala shippers come after me with pitchforks and torches, let me explain. This movie, honestly, is actually painful in some scenes. And yes, I'm talking about the scene where Anakin confesses his undying love for Padmè by the fire on Naboo. His dialogue was forced and cringe-worthy, and even Hayden struggled to pull it off. I think some of the scenes were a bit flawed too, like the fight between Anakin, Obi-Wan and Dooku. And Hayden's side braid was just awkward (like couldn't the Jedi have found a better hairstyle for their padawans?). Overall, the film was okay, but definitely the worst out of the franchise so far.4. Grevious is the worst villain in the Star Wars universe
Yep, I said it, Grevious was boring and unnecessary, and didn't really play a role in the plot at all. Obviously his concept was cool, with a humanoid cyborg wielding the weapons of fallen Jedi, but his execution let him down. He kind of flat lined as a villain in RotS, with being there only for five minutes and all. Even in the Clone Wars I found him more annoying and cowardly than evil. Overall, I really disliked Grevious' portrayal, and think that the franchise could have done better.
