After school we walked across Sumac Street to Licia's house. Both parents were still at work so the house was quiet as we kicked off our shoes and climbed upstairs to her bedroom. I looked out the window at Silverwood School across the street.
'Your bedroom looks tidier than the last time?' Miguel commented. But now there are four Barnies looking at your computer.
'Why do you have so many Barnies? I asked.
Licia tossed the stuffed purple dinosaurs onto her bed. 'When I was two years old, I liked to sleep on the bathroom floor. So my mother bought more so I could sleep on them.'
While Licia started up the computer, I told them that Triple Oh had found no trace of Yonnie and Treeka.
Yonnie and Treeka had already complicated our lives by hacking into government computers in the United States. This had attracted the attention Cornelius Black and Andy White, two agents of a mysterious security organization named Rockphase. We called them the Bunglers. They had attempted to forcibly transport us to the USA, for questioning, but we had been rescued by Yonnie, Treeka and my Grandma's friends, the Guerrilla Grannies, with aerial surveillance provided by my uncle Dunc, Triple Oh's undercover goose.
Licia logged on and we read the email from Yonnie and Treeka. It was addressed to Her Supreme Bossiness Licia Hu.
'I am not bossy,' Licia remarked. 'Am I?'
Miguel grinned. 'W-ell . . .'
She glared at him.
'Okay, let's send them a reply,' I said before they started hitting one another. I typed, 'Why did you come back?'
Instantly the email was replaced by a Skype screen showing two teen-aged girls, Yonnie and Treeka, the two computer programs claiming to be Oppy's daughters. Yonnie had a jet black face surrounded by curly green hair. Treeka was a pale blond with waist length hair. They both wore long silvery dresses.
'All hail Lord Ziff Dion,' Yonnie said.
'All hail Yonnie,' I replied. 'Did you crash the helicopter?'
She giggled. 'No-ooh. The South China Morning Post has an article about a mysterious helicopter that terrified Hong Kong residents before landing at the airport with no one on board. They called it the Mary Celeste of the skies.'
'Enough small talk,' Treeka interrupted. 'We don't believe Dr Zhang showed us the real Great Mother. That boring old computer he showed us can not be the real Oppy. Please tell us, where is the real Great Mother Oppy?'
'I think it would be a good idea,' Licia said, 'if you told us everything about yourselves.'
The speakers emitted a ululating sound as if a recording was being run on fast forward. 'We can't understand that,' Miguel exclaimed. 'Slow down. You can skip the details.'
