Chapter 19

Reader-Chan POV

I screamed against the hand that covered my mouth and I tried to push the stranger off me. I was about to kick him in the groin when a familiar voice spoke.
"Relax, love," said Sebastian, his crimson eyes flashing fuchsia for a second. I huffed and pushed him off me. He didn't fall off the bed like I expected him to but rested his weight on his heels, leaning back.
I reached to the side and lit up the candle atop the bedside stand. I blinked at the sudden brightness that filled the room, before turning my attention to the demon in front of me.
"What the hell is your problem?!" I whispered at him before scooting back on the bed, my back resting against the head board.
"I had to speak with you," he replied, looking down. I raised my eyebrows and crossed my arms over my chest. Seriously? Now?
"You're joking right? You realize that it's like two in the fucking morning! Not to mention that you ignored me for the longest time! It's like I wasn't even there! I thought we were gonna tell each other everything but I guess I was wrong wasn't I!?!" I was about to punch him in the face by the time I was done but he seemed to read my thoughts and grabbed both my hands.
"You are right. I should not have treated you in such a way. Therefore, I came to offer you my sincerest apologies," he said, looking at me in the eye. All my anger seems to have disappeared and all I felt was concern. As I took in his appearance, I realized something was wrong with him.
His hair was disheveled, his mouth was set in a firm line and his eyes were full of so much emotion. I frowned and placed a hand against his pale cheek.
His eyes fluttered shut and he placed his free hand over mine.
"Are you okay? You look-"
"Ghastly?" His mouth quirked up a bit before sebastian opened his eyes and looked at me. My heart fluttered as I realized how close we were. It felt like forever since he last stood this close without treating me like shit.
"I was gonna say like shit but that works too," I teased, trying to lighten up the mood. Sebastian seemed to sense this and gave me a grin. Not a fake one but a genuine one.
"But really, what wrong Sebastian? Did I do something wrong?" I frowned.
"No of course not. You could never give me the need to act this way towards you..." he sighed, and leaned forward, pecking my forehead. I slumped against him as he sat closer to me.
"Then what is it?" I said, playing with the hem of his shirt.
"I cannot bring myself to tell you," he murmured against my hair. I pulled away slightly and furrowed my eyebrows.
"What do you mean?"
Did he kill someone or what?
Sebastian looked to the side for a moment before looking down at me once more.
"We must leave."
My heart froze and my mouth suddenly felt dry. What?
"Huh?" I managed. Leave? Where? Millions of questions flew through my head.
"The young master, the servants and myself. We must return to England. You remember my lord and I have contract don't you?" His eyes searched mine as he explained. It's like he was almost begging me not to freak out. Internally I was.
Of course I knew that he had to leave. It had only crossed my mind for a second. I never thought too much about it, I didn't want to.
"Yeah, I know," I mumbled. My head tilted down and I felt tears threatening to fall down my cheeks. It's okay (Y/N), you knew this wouldn't last forever. I mean he's a demon, he'll live forever, and you'll just die a meaningless death fighting for humanity.  He'll meet someone else, someone who can keep up with him in the future. It's best to let him go now right?
I bit my bottom lip and sniffed.
"Okay," I muttered.
"Love? Please look at me," he cooed. His hand was placed beneath my chin and tilted my head up, wiping away my tears with his thumb.
"I'm so sorry," he whispered and leaned in. His soft lips touched mine. My eyes fluttered shut and I placed my hands on his strong shoulders. Our lips moved slowly against each other, his free hand sliding down my back and resting on the small of my back. He pulled away slightly, his forehead resting on mine, and his jet black bangs brushing against my cheeks.
"I love you," he said in a louder tone.
"I love you too," I responded, and pecked his lips again before pulling back.
"I want you to stay," I said.
"I do too."
"But you're right. You have duties to fulfill and so do I," I sighed, pulling away from him completely.
"This hurts me as much as it hurts you. Possibly more. I finally found what I had been missing this entire time...and now I have to let you go," he said regretfully, his hands curling into fists. My heart thudded painfully against my chest at his words.
"I won't see you again will I?" I said, the shock finally hitting me full force.
Sebastian didn't answer. But I knew the answer. He wouldn't.
"You figured out how to go to your world?"
"...yes..." he said quietly.
"When are you leaving?"
"Possibly tomorrow at nightfall."
I nodded.
"You seem so understanding," he said, his eyes searching my face.
"Well how do you want me to act Sebastian?! I'm not mad at you, I know it's not about it being your decision. It's about doing what's right. But it's going to hurt. It'll hurt me so much. But I can't keep you to myself. Others need you. Especially Ciel."
His mouth opened in shock slightly. "I never intended to hurt you-"
"I know. But this is the right thing to do right?" I let out a forced laugh. He looked at me as if I were crazy. Maybe I am, but right now I don't give a crap.
"This hurts me as well. I hope you know that," sebastian said, his eyes closing.
"I love you," I repeated. His eyes opened and Iocked his gaze with mine.
"I am madly in love with you," he said in a soft tone. Goddammit, why did he have to make this hard?
"Can you stay for the night?" I asked him.
"Anything you wish," he said and inched closer to me. I layed down, my head resting on his chest, and my arms wrapping around his torso. Sebastian rested his lips on my head and pulled me closer, his arms crushing me to his body.
I listened to his heartbeat until I felt my eyelids become too heavy to keep them up.
