Chapter 7: "Odd" Behavior

[(Y/N)'s POV]

I sat at the desk in my dorm and began to read one of the many books I had borrowed from the library. As I read I made sure to pay attention to My Queen's presence in the back of my mind. It was rare for the Queen to send me away without a true reason. However, as her guard, I must respect her wishes without question or hesitation. I slowly moved my tail back and forth behind me, idly, I do so without even thinking about it. I suddenly felt my Queen's presence begin to move towards the dorms, signaling she was on her way back. She seemed to move at a somewhat accelerated pace for an unknown reason. Not quite running, but more like... moving with urgency.

Me: 'My Queen, are you in trouble? You seem to be-'

Suddenly the door opened and in walked Dione. She barely slowed her pace as she walked in and shut the door with her tail.

Queen: 'My Guard, I wish to try something. Do not move from your seat.'

Me: 'As you wish.'

As soon as she reached me, she pounced on me, as though she were about to attack me. Only, she didn't quite pin me, she left my arms free and put her legs on each side of mine. I believe this was called straddling to humans. I didn't so much as flinch, though I was certain she was going to kill me. However she did not attack, she smiled and pushed her lips against mine. A human action called "kissing" an action to show extraordinary affection for another. I hadn't a clue why Dione would show me such affection, however, it would be horribly rude to deny the action at this point, so I "kissed" back. My Queen's breathing seemed to hitch, as though she were surprised. The kiss lasted for a few moments before Dione finally pulled away. She had a light pink tint to her face and almost seemed out of breath.

Dione: 'With this, you are now marked, my loyal guard. No matter what, you shall never stray from my side.'

As her words went through my head I grew confused.

Me: 'My Queen, I do not understand. I have been yours. I live to serve you, and only you, my only purpose is to protect you.'

Dione: 'I know this my guard. But I only wish to make that clear. Our battle for this world will be starting soon. I wish for you not to be swayed by the kind words of a human.'

Me: 'My Queen that will never happen. No matter the odds I will stand beside you, and not let harm befall you until my last breath.'

Dione smiled at me, showing sharp teeth much like mine. In her eyes was something I haven't seen before, some kind of emotion I couldn't fully describe.

I curled my tail around Yang's arm and turned, using my entire body weight to throw her across the arena and into a wall. Blake tried to land a hit as I was faced away from her, however, I used the blade like tip of my tail to parry her sword away. As she stumbled back I turned to face her and quickly ran forward and kicked her in the stomach. She reeled back and stumbled, as Ruby sprinted forward and slashed at me with her scythe. I ducked under the strike and tackled Ruby to the ground, knocking her scythe from her grasp in the process. I brought the blade of my tail down into the ground next to her, making her jump.

Me: "Dead."

I quickly got up and looked around the arena. The only two remaining able to fight were Blake and Weiss. I lowered my posture and swayed my tail, waiting for one of them to move. Blake made the first move, sprinting straight for me. As she neared me I lunged for her going in for a slash with my claws, however, the strike seemed to phase right through her. Suddenly my reflexes kicked in and I shielded my right side using my tail. Blake had gone for a slash at my side but clashed with the exoskeleton of my tail. She looked surprised as she staggered back slightly. I then took my tail and slammed it into her side, sending her to the ground. I then looked to Weiss as the last remaining enemy and out of instinct let off a low hiss. I lowered my stance again and whipped my tail off the ground violently. Suddenly I felt the Queen's presence enter the arena, I turned and saw her walking towards me with a smile.
