I walked into school with blueberry and chocolate chip muffins for Shawn. I usually get him these when something bad happens. It makes him feel a bit better.
As I walked down the hall and see Shawn, by his locker, laughing with someone.
That's odd. I guess granny's okay? We'll, I'll never know unless I ask."Hey Shawn. How's granny?" I asked, handing him the bag of muffins. "Hey Emma. She's collapsed yesterday, but she's fine now. Thanks." He smiled, placing it in his locker.
"Hey Emilee." I greet the girl. "Hi" She smiles.
"Can you excuse us for a second?" Shawn asked her, she nodded. Shawn places a hand on my back and comes close to my ear.
"I like Emilee." He whispered. "Really? Go for it! Ask her out boi!" I whispered back.
"Sorry to interrupt but are you guys a couple?" Emilee asked.
"No, no, no. We're just friends." I said. Shawn nods in agreement.
"Well anyway, I need to go. I'll see you both later." I walked to my locker and unlocked it.
"Hi!" I heard a familiar voice exclaim. "Dear god Brian. Please don't do that." I grabbed my books, stuffing them in my bag and slamming my locker shut.
"Did you do the homework Mr. Blaq gave?" Brian asked, knowing him he didn't do his Math homework. I grabbed the paper from my textbook and passed it to him. "Did you do the History homework?" I asked as we entered the cafeteria. He gave me a paper from his book. "Can you take my bag over to a table with you? I'm gonna get breakfast. You want anything?" I asked, giving him my bag. "A mac and cheese please, thanks." He said, taking my bag.
I walked over to the cafeteria counter, looking at the options.
"What will it be today Emma?" Ms. Freedman asked me, with a smile. "Tater tots and mac and cheese please." I said, "bowl or plate of tots?" She asked, "bowl please." I said. She came back seconds after with a tray with the bowl of tater tots and a plate of mac and cheese. "Thanks Ms. Freedman, you can keep the change." I said, giving her a 50. I walked over to the utensils and got a fork and spoon, then walked over to the table Brian picked.
"Thanks." He said, taking the mac and cheese. I sat down right when my phone dinged.
"Who is it?" He asked, still writing down my answers on his paper. I grabbed my phone and checked who texted. "It's Shawn" I said. "Well what'd he say?" He looked up. "Where are you?" I read. "Tell him were having breakfast." He said, looking over at the screen. "I was just about to." I said, then typing.
As I was typing someone busted through the doors. It was Shawn.
He looked over then ran to our table.
"GUESS WHAT?! EMMA GUESS!" He yelled in my face. "What?" I asked, grabbing a pencil from my bag.
"IM GOING ON A DATE THIS FRIDAY!" He continued to yell in my face. "Shawn. That's the day of the sing off. Did you forget?" I looked him in the eyes. His smile faded. "Oh, maybe I can reschedule to this Saturday around 2" He said, making it sound more like a question than a statement. "Aaliyah's game is this Saturday at 2" Brian pointed out. Oh shoot. I almost forgot about Aaliyah's game this Saturday. Apparently, so did Shawn.
"We'll have to reschedule the sing off to next Friday. You go on your date." I said. His smile crept back on his face, and as soon as I could even grab my fork I found myself in a tight bear hug. "THANK YOU YOU'RE THE BEST" He exclaimed.
"You're welcome" I smile.
