3rd Person POV

The two were walking side by side, going home after getting some Tim Hortons. Both of them thinking about things in their heads. Stuff that were itching for answers.

"Do I really like Emilee? But Emma. No. I like Emilee, Emma is just my friend. Nothing else." Shawn thought to himself

But she looks so pretty in her hoodie. He tried to look away, but he couldn't take his eyes off her. He wondered what she thought of him. He wondered what it was like to be hers. For some reason he felt as if he needed her everyday of his life.

"I need you" He whispered, not realizing that he said it loud enough for her to be able to hear it.

"Need me to what?" She asked, snapping him out of his thoughts. He looked up and looked her way. "What?" He asked. "You said you needed me" She said, putting her hands in her pockets.

"Oh uh, I need you to help me with...my Math project!" He said, praying to the god above that she would buy it.

"You already finished your math project last week. What do you really need me for?" She raised her eyebrows.

"Fuck. Um. What do I say? I can't tell her that I need her to be with me when I told her that I liked Emilee. Wait. Emilee! Right, we have a date tomorrow. I could say something about that." He thought fast.

"My date with Emilee on Sunday" He said. She let out a quiet sigh he couldn't hear. "I've never even been on at least one date but I guess I'll help." She smiled at him. He shot a small smile at her "Thanks."

Oh. I thought he was gonna ask me something else. I thought he was gonna tell me something I've always wanted to hear. I want to tell him how I feel but he's with Emilee. He would reject me. Emma thought to herself, frowning at her thoughts.

Just let him go already. There are other people. She told herself.

She could feel tears form, she quickly pretended to yawn so if he saw he'd think it was because of the yawn.

After a few minutes of walking in silence, they had made it to Emma's house.

"This is me." Emma said, wanting to go inside and cry but also wanting to stay with him a bit longer.

"I'll see you tomorrow at Aaliyah's game." He gave a small smile. "Yeah." She said.

They both gave each other a short hug before parting ways. "Bye." They said in unison.

Emma closed the door before sliding her back down the door and crying her eyes out. She wanted the hug to be longer. She wanted to be able to hug him until the end of time. She wanted him to be hers.

Shawn wanted the same thing. He was thinking the same thing. As if as planned, they both whispered I love you, through their sobs, knowing that neither one of them would ever know that.

I wish you were mine.
