Hugh's POV
I decide to take Fiona to Miss Peregrine. She's definitely peculiar, and I am glad. I didn't want to leave her there alone. I'm not sure what happened, but I want to help her.
We arrive at Miss Peregrine's home. "Trust me, you will be taken very good care of here." I say to Fiona. She looks at me with uncertainty, but Miss Peregrine is the best.
I go through the house looking for Miss Peregrine. I find Enoch in the process of ripping a squirrel apart.
"Um...sorry to interrupt...where's Miss Peregrine?" I ask him.
He stops, stares at the wall for a bit then turns his head. "She's outside with the rest." he says rudely. "And who the heck is this?"
"Fiona." I say. "Thanks." I take Fiona's hand and lead her outside.
"Hugh?" she whispers. "Is everyone like us?"
"Well, not exactly but similar." I say.
I see Miss Peregrine talking to Horace as usual. "Miss Peregrine!" I say. "I have someone!"
She turns around. "You do, do you?" she says.
"This is Fiona." I say. "She's peculiar."
"Well she must be if she can come into our loop." says Miss Peregrine. "Well, Fiona..what can you do?"
Fiona just shies away. "Um, she is a bit shy." I say.
"It's okay Fiona, dear." says Miss Peregrine quietly. "Everyone's kind here and we accept everyone."
Fiona hesitates, then hovers her hands above the ground. Soon, flowers start to grow, super tall. Everyone playing outside stops what they're doing and watches. Fiona soon notices their staring and stops, backing away behind me.
"What a true peculiarity, I've never seen anything like it before!" exclaims Miss Peregrine. "You're magnificent, Fiona."
Fiona just smiles. "Fiona, do you know everything about us?" asks Miss Peregrine.
Fiona shakes her head no. I smile. "If it's alright, I can tell her, since she needs to get used to everything." I say.
"Well, if you think you can, Hugh, yes that will be a help." Miss Peregrine smiles.
"Come on, Fiona. We can sit in the garden." I say. I take her hand and lead her to the garden. We sit at a small table. I look at her and smile.
"So what we're in is called a loop. It's basically for peculiars, but it resets itself. So we stay in the same day. September 3rd, 1943." I say. "We never age. So you'll stay young forever."
Fiona looks at me, confused. "In each loop there is a caretaker, or a ymbryne." I say. "Ours is, of course, Miss Peregrine and-"
"She's named after a bird." says Fiona quietly.
"Yes.." I say. "She can turn into a bird. We're not the only loop. There's plenty of more. They're made to protect peculiars."
"So I can stay here?" she asks.
"Of course." I say. "Everyone is nice here, well sometimes Enoch can be a little cranky, but for the most part, I'm sure everyone will love you!"
"They won't...hurt me?" she asks.
"Of course not, Fi." I say. "Can I call you Fi?"
She smiles and nods.
