Its been three days now, three days since I first showed Josh around and three days since I started playing with Abel.
Josh is really warming up to the school nicely and he's pretty civil.
I won't lie, I totally knew I was leading him on, it's what I do, I just forgot he knew nothing of my reputation.
This has led to some awkwardness between us that can only be described as just sad now.
Anyways, drama a side, so far I've learned a lot more about Abel.
He's a really cool guy, but not really my type, as all my past play mates before weren't.
I was actually surprised though when I found out he's secretly into anime and when I say secretly, I mean he got angry when I noticed the manga in his backpack.
He's in serious fandom denial. Quick someone get him a copy of Dragonmon or Poké Ball Z or what ever those geeks read to reinforce their geekdom.
I chew on my pencil as Ms. June looks up at me "Victoria, you and Josh will be partners"
I stop chewing my pencil and give him a small smile. He returns it with the same amount of enthusiasm. Yup, Josh and I got partnered up in English for a project.
We can do it on anything as long as we spend a good time studying on it, use proper grammar, spelling, well basically you have to be literate.
No less then 2000 words and Ms. June is the kind to count them herself if she has to.
I turn to him as others start talking about their projects "so, what's your afterschool schedule look like?"
"Well, I'm free after school for the next month--"
"Really, why?" I ask.
He looks at me, annoyed "my parents are gone, anniversary vacation"
"Awe, how long have they been married?"
He stares at me.
"What?"
"Do you even care?" he asks.
I sigh putting my hands on his desk "listen, Josh. I'm so sorry I led you on, but I promise you I don't ask questions if I don't care. My friends lives are important to me"
His eyes narrow at me and I pull my hands away "you don't have many male friends do you?"
"No, but you can be my first" I look down, sad "I honestly don't trust guys much even though I date a lot of them"
His gaze softens and I smile "look, Josh, I've never done this before, but I swear to you that I won't play Cupid with you. I didn't save your life just so I can play mind games with you, trust me"
He nods "ok... you free after school today?"
I shake my head "I have a live interview at CBC today..." then clear my throat "for the crash"
"Uh, ok... tomorrow--?"
"Saturday's are Cupid date nights, but I'm free on Sunday after church if you want to come over around 1. My mom usually stays out till 5 and she says that's the best time for me to bring someone over to study"
"Your mom doesn't mind boys in the house?"
I shake my warming up to the school nicely and he's pretty civil.

I shake my head "My mom doesn't mind boys in my bedroom. I'm not a completely bad kid and my mom knows this. She also knows I'm a tease and a flirt, but I'm harmless. She trusts me"
"And other guys?"
"I have pepper spray in my room and pens, lots and lots of sharp pens"
Josh sits back and nods "Sunday sounds good"
"You don't think I'm serious about the pens, do you"
"Not one bit"
I smile as I take out my phone and add it to my calendar.
"How-how's your leg by the way?" he asks, awkwardly.
I stop in the middle of typing and look at Josh. I've never really talked about the crash with him before or anything involving it besides the fact that I saved his life.
I look at my leg as if to remember what state it's in "uh, I don't need my crutches much anymore but it still takes me longer then normal to go up a flight of stairs... how's your wind pipe"
Josh smirks at me "it's working fine, thanks to you. Uh, have you been going to the support group?"
"Why would I?"
Josh leans towards me and fiddles with his pen "Victoria, you were in a bus that crashed. You could be dead right now--"
"But I'm not. Something like a bus crash doesn't faze me. Now an A+ on a well read paper will--" the class bell rings and I smile "now if you'll excuse me my stomach's a bit empty"
I stand and walk away, Stephanie and Shaniqua catching up to me. "I didn't know there was a support group" Steph says
"It's nothing, trust me"
We reach the girls and Steph sits "guess who got Josh as a partner in class"
Everyone looks at me as I glare at Steph "wow, didn't know that was something worth announcing, Stephanie"
Steph sticks out her tounge and the girls all smile.
"I thought you were dating Abel, Vicki. Yet you're making study dates with another" Shaniqua says.
"I am, bitches. Josh is coming over on Sunday, remember this"
"Oh, I thought Sunday's were reserved for friends" Christy smiles.
"Josh is my friend" I sneer.
"Wow... she's serious, girls" Melissa says analyzing my face.
"So Josh is my first guy friend. It's not weird girls. He's just really cool so why hurt him with a Cupid game?"
