One Week Later
My ankle has finally healed and I can walk again!
However, this also means that I have to participate in gym again.
Today, we're playing four corner dodgeball. A version of dodgeball with four teams instead of two, one team in each corner of the gym.
We played and I got out a couple of times. I got a few people out and caught a few of the dodgeballs aimed at me. I hadn't gotten a ball in a while and when I finally got one, of course, I went to use it. However, I forgot to watch the team on my left. So, when I threw the ball at someone in front of me, someone threw one at me. It hit me in the face.
Hard.
I could feel liquid running down my face. I knew it was blood before I even reached up and touched it.
My nose was bleeding.
Did I forget to mention that we were using those big rubber balls instead of the nerf ones?
Without a word, Leo walked over to me, gently grabbed my wrist, and dragged me out of the gym. He continued walking until we reached the unisex bathroom. He let go of my wrist to grab a paper towel. He wet it using the sink.
I stared at his face trying to figure out what he was thinking.
When he turned around, he was smiling.
He took the wet paper towel and started gently wiping the blood away. His gentleness shocked me. No one, outside of my family, has ever been so gentle. It was a nice change to feel like someone, once again, outside of my family, cared about me so much.
He was focusing on the blood, while I was looking at his eyes. His eyes, they were blue. A deep, dark blue. I've never seen someone with this eye color before.
He was so focused, I don't think he even realized I was staring into his eyes like a creeper.
As I was staring like a weirdo, I noticed his gaze shift down.
To my lips.
He was deep in thought and I felt his movements slow. What was he thinking about? The way he's looking at me. It's making my stomach twist but in a good way. However, it was also a little creepy.
I realized that this is probably what I looked like.
Suddenly, he shook his head slightly, I might not have noticed it if I wasn't so focused on him, and continued his previous speed.
When the blood was gone and my nose finally stopped bleeding, he turned around and threw the, now bloodied, towel away. He turned back to me and chuckled. "You always get hurt it gym, don't you?"
I giggled, glad he thought it was funny and not annoyed by it. "Yup."
"You need to be more careful."
My smile grew even wider, if possible. "That's impossible."
He put his hand on my head. "Guess I'll have to keep you from getting hurt then."
Not allowing me to answer, which I wouldn't have been able to anyway, he grabbed my hand and practically dragged me out of the bathroom. I was completely speechless. I could barely even move. What did he mean by that? Why would he say that? Better yet, why would he do that?
Instead of going back to the gym, we sat on the bench right outside of the gym and talked. I learned a lot about him. His favorite color is blue, he likes to read just as much as he likes playing sports (which is a lot), and his favorite subject is science. I told him that my favorite color is yellow, I love to read, and my favorite subject is math.
Once everyone in the gym went to change, I said bye to Leo and left.
