"Strength grows in the moments when you think you can't go on but keep going anyway."
Spencer's POV
I rushed through the pack house, with Layla in my arms. I felt the warm blood trickle down my arm as I carried her. I looked down at her. Her face was pale and was getting paler by the second.
"Doctor!" I shouted, bursting through the hospital door.
"Yes, Alpha?" Dr. Andrews said, coming through the side door. Her eyes landed on Layla's motionless body in my arms and her eyes filled with panic. "Tell me what happened."
"I-I-I don't really know." I stuttered. I couldn't think at this moment. Dr. Andrews pulled out a gurney from behind the the door she came out of and motioned for me to set Layla down. The second I set her down, Dr. Andrews started moving the gurney towards the back of the hospital, all the while checking the back of Layla's head.
"Alpha Spencer, I need you to tell me what happened." Dr. Andrews ordered. I snapped out of the little trance I was in and started explaining what happened.
"I was making her breakfast when her wolf took control." A light blush made its way onto my cheeks when I recalled what Abby had done. "I was holding her in my arms, and when Layla took control again, she pushed away from me and tripped. She fell and hit her head on the tile floor." I explained. Andrews had brought us into a room with different tools and monitors. One of the male nurses, David, came into the room then, and without thought, I let out a warning growl. He instantly stopped moving and bowed his head.
"A-Alpha, sir, I have to c-clean her wound." He said.
"Alpha, I asked him to come through the Telelink. Due to the Wolf's Bane and because she is malnourished, her wolf can't properly heal the wound, so we have to clean it." Andrews said, turning Layla on her side.
"Fine." I said, through clenched teeth. The nurse rushed to Layla's side, cleaning the wound quickly. My wolf was whining loudly in my mind. I tried to get him to calm down, but it wasn't working seeing as I was feeling the same way. Layla's face contorted in pain as David cleaned her wound. I forced myself to not growl at him, knowing that he was just trying to help her. He was soon finished and quickly left the room, bowing his head slightly as he passed me.
"Even though her wolf isn't very strong, the wound should be healed within the next few hours." Dr. Andrews said, taking off her gloves and throwing them away.
"Do you know when she will wake up?" I asked, brushing a stray piece of hair out of Layla's face.
"I can't give you an exact amount of time, but I believe some time today." I gave her a stiff nod and she left the room. I sat in a chair next to the bed that Layla laid on. I sighed deeply, just wanting her to wake up. I didn't care about all of the responsibilities I had to take care of. I didn't care about the blood drying on my arm. I didn't care about anything, other than Layla. I just wanted her to wake up.

I had been sitting by Layla's bed all day, not letting go of her hand the entire time. My beta, Michael, had come in here at some point today, asking if I was going to be coming to tonight's meeting. I had responded truthfully, saying that I didn't know. He sighed and gave me a sad look before nodding and leaving the room.
I started to doze off, when I felt pressure on my hand. I quickly opened my eyes and saw Layla's head moving side to side.
"Layla?" I said, standing up and brushing the hair out of her face. Her face contorted in pain, before she opened her eyes. Her blue eyes connected with mine and her face relaxed. I felt my entire body relax at the thought that she was okay. She pulled her hand from mine and started signing something to me. I looked around for some paper and a pen, not finding any, then Telelinked Aleksis, asking her to come translate for me.
"Wait one minute and Aleksis will be here to translate." I said quietly, enunciating each word. Layla nodded her head. She tried to sit up, but quickly laid back down, holding her head with her hands and closing her eyes.
There was a knock at the door and I yelled for the person to come in. Aleksis poked her head through the door, then stepped in, shutting the door behind her. I looked down at Layla, who still had her hands on her head and her eyes closed. I gently grabbed one of her hands, making her open her eyes to look at me. I simply pointed at Aleksis and Layla turned her head towards her slowly.
It made my wolf howl with joy that she hadn't pulled her hand out of mine yet. She left our hands intertwined as she looked at Aleksis. Too soon, though, she plulled her hand out of mine to sign something to Aleksis.
"She asked what happened." Aleksis said.
"She fell and hit her head this morning on the tile floor." I explained. She nodded and translated what I had said to Layla. Layla just looked between Aleksis and I with a confused look on her face.
They had a short conversation before Aleksis said, "She asks how she fell." Aleksis translated. A light blush crept onto my cheeks as she said that.
"Long story short, her wolf took control, started doing something she didn't agree with and when she took control again she tried to back away from me and tripped, causing her to hit her head on the tile." I explained.
Aleksis nodded, then explained to Layla what had happened. As she was explaining, Layla's face filled with recognition, as if she remembered what had happened. Layla gave me a side glance, then focused her attention back on Aleksis.
We really need to learn ASL. My wolf commented.
Yea I know. I sighed.
