chapter 28

I'm here for your sister.
"ahh...so i assume you've come here to kidnap my sister again?"

I give her a blank look to which she gives a challenging look right back.  Sighing, i confess my feelings for her sister whilst mentally preparing myself for the worst.
"I have fallen for your sister and i have come here to win her"
       
         She gives me a disbelieving look but then opens the door wide and lets me in.
A while later, I'm sitting right in front of Myra's parents who are currently  scrutinizing me from head to toe.
Honestly, i've never felt this insecure in my entire life. Her dad was damn intimidating. All this happened because Inaya here, after throwing  a series of questions herself and getting assured that i was really reformed now directly went and told her parents that i had come here with a proposal for Myra. The result was my current situation.

    I never thought asking for a girl's hand would be so difficult.  And after an hour long questioning session,  it was time for the verdict.  "Look son, from all that I have gathered about you, you seem to be the perfect guy for my daughter.  Last time I made a mistake by trusting a known guy and the result was the Myra we currently have now. She is like a living doll,  as fragile as a porcelain doll,  who can break any minute but is living for her family.
We have lost that cheerful Myra you had known earlier from school. I wish i could rewind time and save my little girl from all the troubles she has gone through just because of me.  I've once forced my decision on her, i wont be doing it again.

       However, i want you to bring happiness back in her life. She is currently studying in one of the reputed colleges of this city, lets see if you can get yourself in there and help her in rediscovering herself.  She has lost her charm, hardly speaks and stays within herself. After tge divorce, i granted her permission to continue her masters for she just seemed like she would lose it any second and needed a diversion. Do anything you can, but remember to do it the halal way. Inaya will sure be a help i'm sure. She is a sweetheart once she knows theres no threat to her family."
  
    Just as i thought i was safezoned, Myra's dad seemed to have remembered something, "How did you say you know Myra?"
"From school sir."
"But she studied in an all girls school"
"My sister was her friend"
"Alright, where is she now?"
"She passed away"
"Oh, I'm sorry."
"Thats alright"
I bid him adueu and left. And no, i did'nt get to meet Myra. My next destination was, the college Myra studied in. It was an all girls college, i had to go there as a professor and not a student. Now, the question was...how to land a job there? Any vacancies?

      Thank Allah that i was educated and not a born goon. I had my Degree in architecture which was one of the reasons i could convince Myra's dad that i could get a job and provide for her. It was, i discovered, a major factor contributing to the selection of grooms in a desi family.
      I carried my certificates and headed towards the college, applied for a job, submitted my resume and headed home, in hopes of recieving a call soon.

        I did not have to wait much for, i got a call the very next day, calling me for an interview for the job in the interior designing department, one that i had aimed for.

The next thing i knew, i was sitting in the head office being interviewed by the principal. "Why are you taking up teaching as a career when you can get better career oriented jobs? "
"I've always wanted to teach, but well, my father wanted me to be an architect. The concept of sharing your kbowledge to the world entices me alot"

"Great, you are appointed. You can join from tonorrow. Please head to Mrs Sera and discuss your pay and the classes you will be handling for this year."

      With that done, pay decided and classes alotted, I went back home.
Tomorrow's gonna be a happening day when the sun will rise again in my life...
