You sighed as you sat alone at the tiki bar by the extravagant poolside of the fancy island hotel: BraveBird. It was a weird name, and you admited that openly, but it was still a very beautiful resort. You swirled your drink and watched couples go by or overly attractive people sunbath in the lounge chairs. Sighing you took a sip of your non-alcoholic drink and wondered why you were even here to begin with.
You didn't fully like the company you worked for, it was an organization that worked with medicine and the machines that go in hospitals. So bot only did your work force research to make vacinines and medicine it also built machines that you would normally are in places like hospitals, forensic labs, a morgue and even other medical related research organizations.
Of course you weren't directly involved in that. You worked on the eighth floor of your office building, and that meant you took phone calls and organized contracts for anyone who wanted to purchase your companies machines.
Once a year, usually around the summer time, your company organized a very large (and very expensive) employee vacation for a certain number of people who proved to have worked hard enough. This year you were very surprised to find yourself on that short list, of course none of your friends had actually made the cut with you so now you sat alone at BraveBirs resort.
In one of the brochures you were given you remembered that the resort was on some special island that, way back when, was known for its ancient tribes. The tribes were long gone now, having disapeared or killed each other off. For a while the island was a hot spot for anthropologists and people who studied fossils or bones. But when nothing of substance was found those scientists abandoned it and later the island was bought by one rich dude and he built the hotel and resort here. It's been a popular vacation spot ever since.
As beautiful as this place was you couldn't help but feel lonely, yous sighed and thought; "What's the point in being in such a wonderful place when I don't have friends to do it with..."
You were suddenly brought from your thoughts as a the chair next to you creaked and a man leaned against the bar to smile at you. You looked over your shoulder at him and were very shocked. He was a very well built man; you could easily see parts of his toned chest and abs because his white button up shirt was open, the sleaves rolled up over strong arms. He had dirty blonde hair that almost covered half of his face and a very nice pair of blue eyes. Some stubble was building up on his chin and jaw line but you didn't mind that at all. His chin was sitting in his hand, elbow propped on the bar, as he smiled at you. It seemed genuine but you were still a little weary of him.
You didn't really consider yourself attractive with (h/l) (h/c) hair and (s/c) skin, your eyes were a nice shade of (e/c). And you weren't exactly trying to look sexy like every other girl here in super small bikinis. You wore a very simple (color) two piece swim suit, some sandles and a white semi-sheer jacket over your swim suit.
You didn't really scream SEXY. But this man had come over anyway, to do what seemed like quietly smile at you. After an awkwardly long time of his pleasent staring you nervously smiled back. "Can I help you?"
"Oh you speak English!" He smirked.
You blinked a few times in surprise. "Yes...? Why wouldn't I?"
He waved a hand as he talked. "Well with how quiet you were I was wondering if you didn't speak english, and there for was to afraid to try and talk to me."
You chuckled softly at that, finding the scenario a little humorous. "Well don't worry, I speak perfect english- and Only English."
He nodded his head then sat up straight and held a hand out, "Names Leon. How about you?"
You turned to face him and took his larger hand in your small petite one. You almost didn't reply with how much you enjoyed the strength in his hand, it was surprisingly soft. "(Y/n)
"It's nice to meet you (y/n)." He let go and leaned forward slightly. "Now... Why are you sitting here all alone?"
You looked down at your drink and twirled the little red and white Umbrella in it. "I have no one to be with right now."
He was shocked, you could see that on his face. "No one? No honey moon with your new husband? No friends?"
You laughed and smiled at him. "Nope, neither of those. What about you? Your friends dare you to come talk to me or something?"
Leon held up his hand to show he wasn't married. "No, I was exploring the resort a little while my partner books the room."
"P-partner?" He did not look like hed be gay but... "The pretty ones always are."
His eyes widened when he realised the mistake he made. "Oh no! Not that kind of partner, I'm a cop! Course I don't have my badge to prove it sense I'm on vacation."
You nodded going quiet, after a moment the blonde man ordered a drink from the bartender and you noticed how his voice dropped a few octaves when he asked his next question. "What do you know about the island?"
You couldn't help but feel a little suspicious of Leon. His tone changed enough for you to notice to ask what would be a casual question. "Uh... I know it's expensive to come here." You chuckled nervously to try and lightenthe mood.
Leon took his glass and held it in one hand. "What about when before the resort was here?"
A nervous sweat fell down your cheek as you looked between his blue eyes. "Uh well.... I know it used to be inhabited by tribes of people... I think scientists or whatever thought the tribes here were special?" Leon nodded his head as you talked, expecting a little more. Feeling flustered and not really wanting to disapoint him you tried to remember as much information from the brochures as you could. "The- there were nine tribes, I think. I can't remember their names... But each one was special for some reason?"
You looked around the resort and pointes to wards the mountain that the main hotel sat against. "I think one of them was on that mountain, not far from hotel actually. But scientists and stuff that came here never found evidence of a village or even people. So I think all the tribe stuff was just publicity..."
Leon opened his mouth about to speak when the barmaid suddenly came over to you both. "Sorry to interrupt... But it seems one of my drinks have gone bad, I called the infirmary and they want you to go and get checked out..." She looked very calm for something like possible food poisoning.
You sighed, wondering if your vacation could get any worse. You cast a smile to Leon, "Thank you for coming and talking to me. I was lonely..."
He looked nervous suddenly but managed a smile anyway. "Your welcome... Uh- be careful ok?"
You were unsure why he would say such a thing, but you assumed he said it because you were a girl all by herself on this big island. Who knows what could happen. You pat his shoulder as you got off your seat. "I promise I will be."
You pushed your chair in and headed over to the hotel. You didn't get to see Leon watching you go with a very nervous look on his face.
