(Hidayah Ali)

By the time Mrs. Judy comes back, without a Daniyal in tow, we're done with the rehearsals or rather Audition #2. I was a little more wobbly in the beginning of my rendition than I'd care to admit. And I'm thankful that Mrs. Judy wasn't around, else she'd have been disappointed in me.

Although Mrs. Monroe is a much sharper woman. And for a minute there, I was afraid I was going to lose my place in the band; though I didn't really. Don't know what to feel about it. I'm of two minds on this thing. On the one hand, I'm really excited about working and making music as a band, together with so many awesome people. But, on the other hand, I'm not so sure of holding my peace for long, once the goon comes back. For he makes of the band too.

When he comes to know of me being so near him, he wouldn't be indifferent towards me, that's for sure. And I'm not in the mood for anymore drama. No. I'm afraid of being in the centre of anymore drama.

Thankfully though, Mrs. Judy isn't successful in tracing him. Apparently, he was not at home or at any of his friends' place. Nobody knows where he's gone to and nobody knows when he'll be back. Gossip goes (as told to me by Paige, she's a bit too interested, trust me!) so far as to say that Daniyal was not sick at all and that he was skipping school without any reasonable cause.

Duh! Like that's anything to be worried about. Bad boys at my old school did that all the time. I'd even seen them sharing cigarettes with the teachers sometimes. If that isn't shock-worthy, I don't know what is.

She also told me that Emily told her that Daniyal's number has been disabled because he hadn't paid the bill for three whole months. Emily had called the number again and again only to be told that the connection had been disabled due to the non payment of the bills.

Now, that is a likely story. Daniyal is a rich lad, I know that for a fact. He has an influential father, a Harley (for God's sake!) and his name to the titular bad boy of the school. In my old school, only bratty sons of rich magnates could afford that.

Unless the high school rule book is written on a totally different script here, it isn't possible for the guy to be dirt poor. Or maybe, it's just a punishment, usually handed by those magnates to their bratty and out-of-hand sons. Either way, I'm glad I wouldn't be seeing him for a while.

My sentiments towards his unaccounted absence might come off as harsh, but when you're a girl used to staying indoors, new places and new people seem extremely daunting. And when you're confronted by a guy every other day with a silly notion in his head and rings in his ears, it gets positively horrific! Smallest respite is a Godsend!
