Okay so I decided to do one last little thing for the story, just what happened to the characters afterwards. Just because I want there to be some happiness towards the end.
Alex:
After receiving his discharge, Alex returned to his home in California and decided to follow his passion in writing stories and poetry, which he would do in his free time while in the military. Most of his stories are based on tragedy and loss. Less than a year after he got out, he met a girl named Tiffany who was attending a nearby college, the two started dating and are now engaged.
Davis:
Shortly after leaving Iraq, Zach Davis (yes I named him Zach., don't like it? Well guess what it's my story so deal with it), was deployed to Afghanistan where he was promoted to Captain. He was honorable discharged in 2015 after 10 years of service. He now lives on a small plantation in South Carolina
Colonel Schaffer:
Colonel Schaffer, just like Davis, was deployed to Afghanistan, after serving for 10 months, he returned back to the states and was stationed in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, where he was promoted to Brigadier General, he retired in 2016 after 35 years of service. He's now probably on some island enjoying his retirement but honestly who cares
