It was slowly cascading down in a constant stream. Each drop collected together in a continuous pour emitting that incredible aroma. They were pooling together in a beautiful display. It was so close and I longed for just a taste.
"Will you hurry up with my ice cream already?! I'm dying here." I exclaimed from the counter. The employee working the soft serve machine just chuckled at my wines.
"Calm down I'm done. That is one large cup of cookies and cream for you tonight sir. But I have to ask what kind of a person wants ice cream during a winter snow storm in the middle of the night."
"Well first off it's 1:00 in the morning, and second I just get a bit of a craving what can I say."
"Don't you have school in a few hours or something, a kid like you needs his sleep."
"Thanks for the concern, but I've never really needed much sleep anyway so have a good morning and maybe i'll see you again tomorrow." and with that I paid the nice man, left a tip, and headed on my way. I really didn't see the problem with things right now, sure it's snowing like crazy and the temperature was -10 Fahrenheit, but I've never really had a problem with the cold, I liked it especially when it was snowing like this. Just the sight of the snow fall made me feel so excited and energetic. I peered at my watch checking the time so I wouldn't head home too late.
"Only 1:10, i still have time." and with that I walked a bit faster to one of my favorite spots. This one was my favorite because despite how late, or early in this case, it was there always seemed to be a few of them scrounging around there. Just before I rounded the corner to this area I donned my beautiful homemade mask.
"Hey kid! Halloween was yesterday, but maybe you can come over here and give me a nice treat. Hand over all your money now!" A big guy shouted pulling out a cute little flip knife. This was perfect I knew there would be at least one left around here, not counting the first few i ran into before getting my ice cream. Speaking of which I decided to set it down before I started.
"You know I really do like this area, there is always someone like you left that I managed to miss just before I head on my way, cute knife by the way but mine are bigger and sharper." I said while pulling out a few knives and sliding them between my fingers expertly. The man took this as a threat and made like he was gonna stab me, very sloppy form by the way, I quickly threw my hands up in a surrender pose and dropped my knives.
"Calm down I was just showing you that I wasn't lying. You said you wanted my money right, well you can have it." I pulled out my wallet and shook it a little to show off it had quite a bit of change in it. The man's eyes seemed to light up a bit at the sound, he reached for it with a smirk but I cut him off right before he could grab it.
"Though there is one other thing I like about this place, the way the icicles form over every ledge, or haven't you noticed." I point up towards the roof to express my point. He followed my finger and saw the countless icicles that formed over the alleyway.
"What the heck are you on about kid? Just give me the money already." It was clear he was getting upset.
"Okay but you asked for it. Whoops." I threw my wallet up and he followed its path all the way to one of the icicles. When they collided the icicle snapped and crashed straight into the mans skull, and between his eyes too, bonus. He fell down and his blood poured all around the pure white snow. I walked over and picked up my wallet and knives from their places on the floor. I felt like I was forgetting something though.
"My ice cream!" I reached down and grabbed it from its place in the snow. The indent it made was quickly wiped away by the storm. I lifted my mask just above my mouth and lifted a scoop in the spoon.
"Oh looks like some blood got in." I swallowed the bloody scoop and shivered at the incredible flavor that surged from the exquisite dessert in my hands.
"This was the perfect topping to my little dessert." I left home with a smile and kept the amazing new treat I discovered in the back of my mind. I think I just found a craving that's stronger than my craving for sweets.
