Authors note: I am so, so sorry that this chapter took sooo long to post. To be honest, I wish I had a real excuse, but I was really a little too lazy for a while. Then I was at a friend's (LittleWittleCupcake) house and slept over for like four days, so I didn't have access to a computer. Idk if I have many readers, coz it says like on the first chapter '20 views' and third chapter '40 views', or something like that, and it's really weird. Must be some glitch. Anyway, CHAPTER FIVE!! Here you go Holger, idk if you actually enjoy it that much, but YESS thanks for making me feel like this novel is good hahaha.

Also, Tomorrow (July 2nd) I will be flying to Texas (HOME STATE YESS FINALLY, I HAVE BEEN WAITING) and I will have my computer, so I might write some shit, you know, but no promises... Hope you enjoy the chapter, and HOPE YOU ENJOY FUCKEN SUMMER! I'm not super proud though of this chapter, but still, HAVE FUN FRIENDS.. or friend

Oh, and LAST THING, sorry if there are any mistakes, I kinda corrected this at one in the morning and we're getting up at seven or something, so I was kinda stressed and tired..

ENJOY (:

I was so surprised, so that even the candle lights flickered and the walls shook the slightest. Everyone at the table in the corner of the largest dining room looked at Alice. She sat their, hugging Quinn for a few seconds, then let her go.

"I'm so sorry." She whispered.

Quinn said nothing. She was very sad about her brother.

"I... Understand." Alice whispered. Again, the lights in the room flickered. Alice looked up at them and seemed like the only one that noticed this. I looked back at her. She was looking through me, and I was looking at her, but we still weren't actually seeing each other. Then she turned back to the table.

"Okay... Seems like you girls are good friends, I should go and... Inform others." Nelly said and smiled. "Cadence? Do you want to stay here?" She asked and looked first to Cadence, then up at the other four girls. "Would that be alright with you four?" They all nodded and Cadence smiled.

"Great!" She said and got up to leave. The five girls sat in silence, staring at their hands.

Inside the kitchens, fifty creatures with large wings, huge bodies, fat arms, weird hats, clawed feet and clawed hands were making food for hundreds of children. To be honest, the food wasn't too bad. At least from what it looked like, and how the kids responded. The food had to be good, there couldn't be any disgusting food that the kids wouldn't eat. Though sometimes the food could be pretty terrible, like for example when the Workers served stews.

Once the workers were nearly finished, one of them slumped clumsily over to the large lever on the wall and with huge effort, pulled it down with his gloved hand and a loud bell rang so most children jumped. The older children walked over to the bar-like opening, took a plate and a fork and knife and stood in line to be served. The younger and newer children followed and did the same. Alice, Mimi, Quinn, Jenny and Cadence followed too and got to the line. The food today was a little more special than usual, because there were new children. Madam Masked always wanted the new boys and girls to feel "welcomed" on their first evening, but to be honest, it was never welcoming, even if I tried to make it.

The first people in line were Luce, Amina and their friends. After them were several teenagers who had been here for several years. Luce handed over her plate to the first of the six workers standing in the large opening in a line. He stretched out his clawed hand and took the plate and put two pieces of bread on the side of her plate. He then handed over the plate to the other large Worker beside him, who put a piece of steak on the plate, next to the bread. While Luce's plate was being past down the line of Workers, each of them put something each on the plate. This is how it always worked, so all children would get equal amounts of food. The first Worker would serve things like bread or crackers, the second would serve meat or fish, the third would serve greens and fruits, the fourth would serve things like potatoes or rice, the fifth would serve sauces like gravy or maybe jam and the sixth would serve drinks like water, milk or cranberry juice. Then they would give back the plate of food to the child in line. And as a plate got past on by the first Worker, the next person in line would hand over their plate and be served. This was a routine so it would go faster to serve food.
