I had retreated into my room long before Alice and Indigo got back. They were laughing when they entered the room, arms bountiful with stuffed animals ranging in size from small to extra-large, and various types of food and drinks.
"Ohmigosh. Do we really need so much stuff?" I asked, pulling the towel off my head from my shower.
"Yes, yes we do," Indigo answered.
"We couldn't bring you to the amusement park, so we had to bring it to you," Alice told me. "Could you grab my soda and the funnel cake so I can set this stuff down?"
I walked/ jogged across the room to grab the falling food. "Ohhh, a funnel cake. I love these things."
"Well, yeah, they're horrible for you," Indigo said.
"Indigo," Alice said getting her attention. "I don't think we thought this through all the way."
"What? Why?"
"Because we don't have a fridge to keep the food from spoiling."
"DOH." Came Indigos reply
I rolled my eyes. "I have some money in savings. A mini-fridge sounds important, so I'm willing to pay half."
"Oh!" Alice said in excitement. "Indigo could pay the other half and I could get a microwave!"
"But where would we put them?" Indigo asked.
"We could put the fridge against the wall with the door and put the microwave on top," I suggested. "I mean, we still don't have anything there."
"Brilliant" Breathed Indigo. "Looks like we're taking another trip before the nights up!"
The trip went without incident, but we did end up arguing over what colors the fridge and microwave should've been.
I wanted a classic black, but Alice said black was too boring. Indigo suggested red, but the red microwave was out of stock, so we settled for blue.
Somehow along the way, I convinced them that we had to go down the book aisle. I bought two books, an intricate looking coloring book and a giant pack of twistable crayons
I'm sure that we would have wound up going down the toy aisle if Jordan hadn't called and told us that they locked the doors at ten every night. A fact none of us knew about until now because we never had the reason to stay out that late.
We hurried home and had the fridge and microwave set up and stocked in record time.
When we were done I asked about their day.
They both laughed at the same time. Alice talked about how she and Jordan went onto a couples thrill ride and got a picture of them kissing on top of a steep fall. Indigo talked about how she dominated everyone at one of those carnival games that you paid for separately and that's where all the stuffed animals came from.
Eventually, they pressured me into telling them what went on after Andrew had come back. Once I spilled the happenings of this afternoon, Alice pretended to sniffle while saying "They grow up so fast," while Indigo made 'ew' faces
We talked about useless things like we usually did before we either agreed that we needed to sleep, or someone wimped out and fell asleep first.
Alice was the first to go this time. Indigo and I noticed when she wasn't partaking in our conversation – which, trust me, wasn't long.
"Awe, she's so cute when she's sleeping," Indigo said, leaning over Alice's sleeping body, "Let's draw on her face with a Sharpie." She grabbed a marker from Alice's desk. And began uncapping it.
