Featured Song: 'I Almost Do' from the album RED

For the longest time I've had a crush on Derek. He has the nicest smile and his laugh is contagious. One day I decided to ask for his phone number. I was so happy, because he gave me his phone number. We texted a couple times, but this one time he called me. I was so nervous I almost didn't pick it up. I was thinking to myself I just wanna tell you it takes everything in me not to call you.

"Hey!" I said as I picked up the phone.

"Taylor. I need to talk to someone. Is it okay that I called you?" He asked.

"I bet this time of night you're still up. I bet you're tired from a long hard week." I replied.

"You're right. It's not a long week, but instead this girl." He said.

"I bet you're sitting in your chair by the window looking out at the city." I said. But all I could think was I bet sometimes you wonder about me.

"Taylor. This girl, she makes me so happy. But I'm not sure if I really like her." He said.

I could hear the nervousness in his voice. I started thinking to myself I wish I could run to you.and I hope you know that every time I don't. I almost do, I almost do. I needed to say something, but how.

"Taylor." I heard his voice on the phone.

"Derek. I bet you think I either moved on or hate you, 'cause each time you reach out there's no reply."

"You totally understand." He paused. "This girl. She asked for my phone number. I was happy that she finally reached out, but since then she hasn't really talked to me, like at school."

OMG!! He's talking about me!!! I thought. "I bet it never ever occurred to you that [she] can't say "Hello" to you and risk another goodbye."

"Maybe..." He trailed off. "But what if I was the one to say 'Hello'?"

"And I just wanna tell you it takes everything in me not to call you. And I wish I could run to you." I mumbled.

"What was that?" He asked me.

It was time. I should tell him. I thought, then said, "And I confess babe, ... And asking me if I wanna try again with you. And I almost do. [But I should. I do like you.]"

There was a pause on his side. Then after a couple seconds he spoke. "Taylor. You're the girl."

"Derek.  I hope sometimes you wonder about me." I smiled to myself. I did it, kind of.

The next week at school we were hanging out more. I was so happy. And on Friday, he asked me out. That week was probably the most happiest week of my life.
