I had my hand on the doorknob, I was hesitant to open it, afraid of what I might find. Not afraid of what's behind the door, but afraid that I would find there is no going back. It seemed strange they would just accept me, I wasn't one of them and had no business being here and I understood that. I just don't think they do. I just can't stop thinking about their motive. I'm not good at making friends or just talking to people in general. I choke up and don't know how to act. My only true friend and I haven't spent much time with each other in the past year due to me moving farther away and not being across the street anymore. Thinking of the past saddened me so I stopped and thought about happy things like puppies. But that just made me think about my old dog we had to give away because our stupid apartment doesn't allow dogs. I just can't win.
I decided to take the chance and turned the knob and pushed the door open. "Oh, hey! We were waiting for you." Kat said giving me a sense of joy and belonging. For some strange reason I had an unusual strong attraction to this place.
"Yeah, sorry. I got a little lost." I directed towards her. The only other people in the room were Matt and that other guy, but they were doing their own thing.
"Okay, let's get to class." Kat said and we were on our way to my first class.
