chapter 3
Conrads p.o.v.
My head throbbed, it felt as if it was going to explode into pieces. I sank to the floor, holding my head. The pain was unbareable. A figure approached me as I groaned out in pain.
"Conrad, Come on, Get up." A males voice said calmly. I knew that voice by heart, It was Tate. I felt his slim hands curl around my waist and pick me up. Tate wasn't much older than me, I was seventeen and he was eighteen.
"Rad, You gotta stand up." He said softly as he let go of me. Rad was my nickname most people called me, besides Sal. Sal is the boss around here, and he is the smartest one. His real name is 'solem et lunam', which is Latin. It means Sun and moon. But we all figured it would be much easier to call him Sal.
"It throbs." I whispered to Tate. He nodded in agreement.
"At first." He replied.
I groaned and buried my face into Tates chest. He simply patted me on the back. Me and Tate are best friends, but pracitally brothers. We performed a blood ritual so we could be blood brothers. And that same day we made a vow to protect each others lives, no matter what the cost. I was six and he was seven at the time.
"The pain will go away, But you gotta stand up." He said lightly pushing me off him. I stumbled but regained my balance.
"Luna?" I asked, He nodded.
"She's talking to Sal." Tate replied.
"About..?" I waited for an answer.
"Past life, what she is, who we are, and about the insititue." He said bluntly. I nodded and walked past him. I approached a tall old fashioned door. I could hear faint talking, I heard a males voice and a females voice. I knew Luna was in there, but I figured it'd be smarter not to disturb them.
"What!" I heard a female scream, I could feel my stomach drop. I then heard soothing whispers.
"I don't think she is taking this in very well," I whispered to Tate who wasnt paying any attention.
I put my ear up against the door, I could hear faint footsteps, that grew louder within seconds. The door swung open and I nearly fell in.
"Conrad?" Luna barked.
"You were listening, weren't you?" She crossed her arms as I flipped the hair out of my eyes.
"Uh, no... What makes you think such a thing?" I replied acting casual.
"You nearly fell in when I opened the door." She said gesturing a hand towards the room. I couldn't tell if she was annoyed or frightened, maybe somewhere inbetween.
"Um. I don't recall such silliness." I said with a smirk. Luna's eyes were filled with hate, she looked as if she was ready to kill.
"What are you? What am I?" She asked, her voice quivering. I fell silent.
"Answer me." She ordered.
"I thought Sal told you.." I answered quietly.
"He did, but I want to hear it from you." I felt my heart drop.
"Why?"
"Just answer my question." She snapped. I flipped the hair out my eyes and swallowed. Her eyes were locked on me.
"Hybrids." I answered quietly. She didn't reply. She was in a daze, she was looking at me, her eyes fixed on my mouth.
"Your mouth.." She whispered. I cover my face with my hands and ran down the empty hall. I wasn't ready to tell her. Not yet.
