"Leo...Leo...Leo! Wake up. We're here." I slowly opened my eyes to see Blake's face very close to my own. I frowned. "Already?" I asked. The carriage was still moving. "Well not the castle, but we are in the kingdom. I thought you would like to see it." He said earnestly. I rolled my eyes and sat up. It wasn't like he couldn't take me out to show me around later.
"What was that for?" He asked with a hurt look on his face. A flash of guilt hit me. "I'm sorry. I'm just still a little tired." I said with a small smile. He returned mine with a smile of his own. "Alrighty! Are you ready? To see. The fire kingdom?!" He said in a grand voice. I laughed and nodded my head.
He pulled back the curtain of the window and I was greeted by the outside world. The light wasn't necessarily bright, but it wasn't dark either. There was fire everywhere and the cobblestone paths had cracks that were filled with molten lava.
I was in awe. It was nothing like the Candy Kingdom. The only brightly colored things were the fire which was at a cool red and the people. Some of the subjects were as red as the fire. Others as blue as the ocean, and some were a deep purple. Their clothes were dark colors and the buildings were made of stone or wood. When the people went into the wooden buildings it caught fire and they rose above with their bodies aflame. the stone buildings were less dramatic.
"The prince! The prince is back!" There was a cry from a group of children. Instantly everyone turned. They paused for a moment and then rushed forward. They put their hands to the carriage and called out Blake's name. He was grinning down at them and waved his hand every so often.
I had never left the Candy Kingdom to know if any of my subjects would react that way, but the thought of it excited me. Suddenly they all stopped. They formed a line behind the carriage and waved, called out, and danced around. I looked on in confusion until I saw the gates shut behind us.
My eyes widened in confusion and I turned to face Blake. "They're not allowed in the castle. They're peasants." Blake said. I had never liked the word peasants. We preferred subjects. It didn't sound as mean. But Blake didn't say it in a mean way. He said it with love. "Oh." And then I saw the better houses. They were huge in comparison to the ones outside the inner gate. And the people were dressed extravagantly. They were brightly skinned and brightly clothed as well.
The sopped and staid at a stand still when they saw the carriage. They didn't rush forward to greet Blake. They glared or didn't even look. "These are the nobles. They don't really like me." He explained. And once the carriage would pass them the people would get back to whatever it was they had been doing before Blake had pass them.
This part of the Fire Kingdom was much smaller than the poorer people's. And then there was another gate shut behind us. "We're at the castle now." Blake said. I stuck my head out the window after rolling it down. "Cooool..." I said. It rose above every building in the Fire Kingdom. It was a very imposing sight, but I was more excited than intimidated.
"This is gonna be fun."
A/N: Again, I'm sorry it's so short, but I'm pretty sure the next chapter is gonna be longer. ~Peace out, Toxic
