Zero was greeted with a graveyard. Another man lay dead by the gate. The white wisp signaled he had important items. 10 Quicksilver Bullets to be exact.

Opening the steel gates, Zero decided to do what he does best: explore. After dispatching some Yharnamites, which were all too easy, he found a ladder and quickly scaled it. He then found a small lamp and some notes beside it telling him to light it. He decided to write his own note telling other Hunters how important it was. However, when he tried to write "Light the lamp, it will be important", the words wouldn't come out. He then decided to try to write "Treat bonfire with care" because he thought a random descendant of a great knight might get it.
Zero traveled to the right because the left was blocked off by a gate that wouldn't open. He then saw a ledge. At the bottom was another Yharnamite. Zero barely dropped down and was detected. This was only a minor setback seeing as it was one civilian. What Zero saw next would be more than a minor setback. A large group of Yharnamites. All armed with torches, pitchforks and swords.
Zero crept slowly, using pebbles he found in the road to distract the civilians. One by one, they all fell. Zero then heard more footsteps, a small patrol was coming. Zero thought he could take them. He would be proven to be wrong. The civilians poked torches at Zero, which stopped his attacks. The one with a pitchfork then capitalized, impaling Zero and nailing him to a wall. That was the end of that life.
Zero awoke at the lamp he lit, rather than the dream. Realizing this, he decided to just press on. It did not matter where he woke up. He dispatched the large group and was ready for the patrol. He didn't get greedy with his attacks and capitalized where the Yharnamites made mistakes, taking out the pitchfork carrier last. This was because that civilian had strange, glowing eyes, Zero would experiment with this by singling him out. When the civilian went down, Zero felt a surge of power, he had gotten his old Blood Echoes back. Zero pressed on.
Zero progressed to the next part of town through a small archway. He had heard noise and loud banging coming from the wooden doors on the side with the large crowd so he decided to investigate what was causing the noise. He saw a hulking, manlike thing with a brick instead of a left hand. Zero tried to creep up on the ogre but it heard him. It groaned and growled, readying a charge. Zero barely rolled out of the way. The monster capitalized, going for a jab combo with its brick hand. Zero saw this and made his own opening. He shot the monster square in the chest. The Beast staggered, lowering to its knees. Zero, using his bare hand, punched through the monster and ripped out its organs. The Beast collapsed, dead at last. Zero reaped his rewards: 4 Blood Vials, a Torch, 5 Oil Urns and 10 Quicksilver Bullets. He would press on, only to see something truly terrifying.
