Zero woke up again, this time for good. He looked to his left arm and saw a mark, almost like a tattoo. He sat up and figured he should get moving. He moved off of the table, then headed downstairs. He had opened all of the doors which admittedly took some struggle. He then saw it. A lycanthrope, exactly like the one he saw in his "dream". It was eating something, likely a person. However, Zero noticed, it seemed to ignore it's left hind, almost as if the thing was crippled. Zero tried to sneak past the wolf, hoping it would be too indulgent in its feast. He had hoped too much. The wolf looked up and immediately turned to Zero. Zero gasped. The wolf lunged at him. Zero narrowly dodged the chomp.

"Okay," Zero said, "fisticuffs and hope to God I survive-" Zero was cut off by a quick slash across his chest. "Fuck!" He shouted, bleeding from three huge gashes. The wolf capitalized, taking a bite out of Zero's right shoulder. He screamed again as he felt his world fading to a quick and seamless black.

Zero again awoke, but not in the Clinic. Instead he awoke in a garden of daffodils. He rose up and saw a small building on a hill preceded by stairs, surrounded by trees. "What is this place?" Zero wondered aloud.

An old, raspy voice answered "This is the Hunter's Dream. A terrible curse you've caught yourself in. Doomed to immortality. I am Gherman. While you're here, feel free to use whatever you like. Even the doll, should it please you." Zero didn't first understand what the man had said until he saw a large, abandoned doll sitting at the bottom of the stairwell. Pale, ceramic skin. A red, frilled dress with matching bonnet and a head of silver hair. Zero couldn't help to admire her looks. He then saw the same creature-Messengers, he was quick to correct himself, sitting on the stairway, holding strange items. He approached them each with caution. They sat in groups of three, all except one. The first group of three offered weapons: An ax, a hacksaw-like weapon, and a cane with a blade instead of stick. Gherman spoke again.

"The Saw Cleaver: A hacksaw in its base state, does moderate damage. When transformed, the saw flips out from the handle, and becomes a long cleaver. The Hunter's Ax: A simple ax with a giant edge. When transformed, it turns into a Halberd. Lastly, the Threaded Cane: A Cane-like sword with a blade instead of walking stick. When transformed, it turns into a linked whip with serrated edges."

"That's cool and all but did you say transformed?" Zero inquired.

"Yes, I did," Gherman responded, nonchalantly. "each weapon equipped by a hunter can be transformed into something new. It keeps us unpredictable."

Zero was impressed, his only challenge now would be what to choose. He decided to go with the Threaded Cane, because he figured walking around with a pimp cane would be badass. He would soon find out to be right. Zero then approached the next group of Messengers, the three of them carrying two guns. One of the guns looked to be a basic pistol, the other a blunderbuss. Zero knew how both of the guns worked. He didn't need an explanation. The Blunderbuss had a spread, but at the cost of range and damage. He chose the pistol.

He came upon the last pair of Messengers. One carrying a notebook, the other carrying a bell and a blank gun. The gun was labeled Silencing Blank.

Gherman explained "The Notebook will allow you to write notes for other Hunters to receive, so you can either leave helpful hints or be a dick and misdirect them. However, other Hunters cant rate your notes Fine or Foul so be careful. The Beckoning Bell will allow you to summon other Hunters, old or new. The Silencing Blank will allow you to end all forms of cooperation with the Hunters. So as the old saying goes, get out there and engage in jolly cooperation." Gherman laughed, to which Zero figured was old man dementia. "All you need to do is approach that gravestone at the bottom of the stairs." Gherman pointed to a small gravestone with Messengers crawling about it. Zero approached it and knelt. He felt his body dissipate and when he reopened his eyes, he was back in the clinic.

Zero decided to look around when he saw a small flight of stairs leading to a door. He traveled up and knocked. He was greeted with a woman's voice. The voice was soft and smooth. She said such: "Hello. I am Iosefka, owner of this clinic. I'm sorry, I cannot open this door. Are you a hunter?"

Zero replied with a short "Yes".

"Marvelous!" Iosefka responded. "You know what? If you find any survivors, tell them to head to this place and I will keep them safe. Also, as a token of my gratitude for all that you people do, take this." Through the mail slit came a small vial of yellow blood. "Just inject it into your right thigh, for that is where the beast blood starts and be sure to do that for every other vial of blood you come across."

"Thank you kind lady" Zero responded, pocketing Iosefka's Blood Vial.

Zero forgot about the werewolf. It was almost ready for him. The wolf lunged, ready to take another chew. This time Zero was ready. He dodged around the bite, leading into a combat roll. His eyes solely focused on the lycanthrope. It only took two slashes. Two slashes of the cane and the werewolf was put down. Zero reaped his reward: Two Blood Vials. Zero also noticed a man dead in the corner, it wasn't long before his body was checked too. Three Blood Vials. That made five. At long last he could open the gates into Yharnam.
