Chapter 6

I drove for about 10 minutes to Noelia's house. She was sitting on the front steps with her elbows on her knees and her head was resting in her hands. She looked frustrated until she looked up at me walking up her driveway. She jumped up.

"I am SO glad you're here! I need an escape!" She pulled me into a tight hug.

I chuckled as I patted her head. She ran up to the front doors, grabbed a little book bag and her keys. She ran up to my car and we both hopped in.

"You want to talk about it?" I asked while keeping my focus on the road.

She slumped in the chair. "He came home drunk again, she's too blind to leave his abusive, alcoholic ass." I forced a smirk and grabbed her hand.

"She'll be okay, she always is." She patted my hand with her other hand and forced a smile. "I know, thank you."

We drove for another 30 minutes to the mall. We met up with Leilani who was here with her parents that she ditched once we told her we were there.

We ate some pretzels, watched a movie, and played some Dave & Busters.

About 3 hours later, we were all slumping around the mall. We made our way back to my car and Noelia sat in the front with me and Leilani sat in the back.

I started the car and placed my hands on my lap.

We stood in silence for about 5 minutes before the girls started looking at each other then at me.

"Um, you okay there Adriana?" Leilani questioned.

I sighed, and closed my eyes for a brief second. "I have to put you girls on."

"About what?" Noelia asked.

"My mom came back..." They perked up, opened their eyes wide, and looked at each other, then at me.

I told them everything that happened. We sat there in silence for another 5 minutes before Noelia broke the silence.

"What a bitch."

"NOELIA!" Leilani hit her arm.

"What? It's the truth." She rubbed her arm.

"She might be a little...questionable...but she's not a bitch." Leilani said softly.

"No, Noelia's right, she is a bitch." I said coldly, Noelia crosses her arms and makes it clear to Leilani that she was right.

"I'm honestly not sure what I think of her, what she did was wrong, how she's acting is wrong, but you never know, maybe she has a motive." Leilani sheepishly responds.

"Her motive is money and a free room. Her motive is using my families' kindness for weakness." I said sternly.

"I'm sorry Adi, I can't imagine what's going through your head right now..." Noelia pats my hand and Leilani lays her hand on my shoulder.

I take a deep breath and put my hands on the wheel. "I'm not going home, I'll probably crash at my aunts house."

Leilani pats my shoulder "If anything, you're welcomed at my house."

"I would offer you my house, but my step dad's an asshole and would probably start an argument and I doubt you want to be in the middle of that." Noelia states.

"Thanks girls, but my aunt loves me, she'll let me stay. Do you guys want me to take you home or do you have somewhere else you need to be dropped off?"

"Lani, could I sleep at your house?" Noelia asked turning towards Leilani.

"Of course, you sure you don't want to have a sleepover at my house Adriana?"
