Damian was busy with Kaitlin and Finlay all week, tracking them and trying to find out all he could about the girls being kidnapped. He was frustrated that he had so many jobs and so many personalities to deal with all at once. So much so that he wasn't able to keep track of everything well enough for him to feel like he was doing the job properly. Focusing on one task at a time gave him more scope for creating truths and bonds that he would find useful later.

While he was focusing on Kaitlin and Finlay, he had no idea what the rest of his targets were up to. He still had no sign of Maria and no clue that he would see her anytime soon. He also had no hint from the elders about whether or not the two girls he'd already brought to them, Maya and Chase, had shown any signs of being the Amelia he loved and cherished. No one knew of his feelings for her, but when they had gone unreciprocated for going on almost five centuries now, he saw no need for anyone to know. He had no help and wasn't informed of any progress being made, but he was used to it. It was his job to keep quiet and obedient and he would continue to do that for as long as he lived if it meant he got what he wanted in the end.

The only good thing that came from Damian working alone and having to focus on Kaitlin and Finlay all week was that Tyler had time to get closer to Emily on campus. And Tyler wasn't blind. He knew that Damian was lurking around her and he knew exactly what he was, guessing that he had some kind of plan for her. It was late one Saturday night when he lay on her bed in her dorm room and brought up the subject that he had been desperate to discuss for days. Emily lay with her head on his chest as he ran his fingers through her hair, listening intently to everything he had to say.

"Do you remember what you said to me? About wanting to be with me forever?" Tyler asked, reminding her of the words she spoke to him the first night he kissed her, almost a week before.

She answered with a nod and a smile.

"Did you really mean it?" Tyler asked sheepishly.

Emily looked at him adoringly and smiled. "Of course I meant it, Tyler."

"You don't know what it means to me ... hearing you say it," Tyler said, turning onto his side to hold her face in his hands. "If you really mean it, then I want to turn you."

She looked away, uncertain, not knowing why there was a deep sinking feeling in her gut as he spoke. It was what she wanted, after all. She had asked it of him, but suddenly, it felt as though she was standing at the other side of the room behind a large partitioned glass that was sound proof, kicking and banging on it, screaming at herself to wake up enough to say no and that it wasn't what she wanted.

For those few moments, Tyler wasn't sure what she was going to say and was a little worried about her answer until she smiled up at him suddenly.

"Alright. Will you do it now?" Emily asked.

He was surprised first with her light lingering kiss, and then next with her request for it to happen right away. He couldn't say no to her. "Okay, but on one condition," Tyler replied, swallowing hard. "Is it really what you want?"

"First, will you tell me something? Another vampire told me that when he was around me, he thought I was a vampire ... that I gave off a vampire vibe," she wondered. Damian's words had worried her since the moment he told her. She didn't know how it made sense, but somehow she believed that he meant it. Tyler seemed to agree, not sounding surprised at all by the question.

"Yes, you do. I don't know how, but you come across as being one of us already. It's not very strong ... as if you were only a half vampire ... but it's there." He laughed it off, knowing that vampires couldn't be half human and half vampire and they couldn't have children unless they were elders, which would result in pure blooded children. It was impossible to think that somehow, in some way, Emily was already one of his kind.
