Today was the day...
I'm going to be singing on TV for a show about celebrity hidden talents...
I had decided to do this when my PR team thought it would be a good way to bring up my views and explore new things to broaden my reach in the community.
As for my hidden talent, I'm gonna be singing and the song was a difficult choice. In the end, I decided on 'Shape Of You' by Ed Sheeran for two reasons; one, I love Ed as he's a great artist and two, the song kinda describes Brad and I's relationship in a way so I know he'll know the song is dedicated to him. I decided to go for a more late 90s/early 2000s vibe with the backing track to make the cover my own twist.
Before I head onstage to perform, I take a deep breath and think of the boys and my family to calm my nerves. A smile forms on my face, thinking about how the boys are gonna react when they hear my 'hidden talent'.
I got really into the song as I was performing and a huge smile was on my face cause I was, of course, thinking of Bradley Will Simpson the whole time. After my performance, it was then interview time...
"I'm here with the lovely Loey Sugg, who may recognize her last name as she's the youngest sister of YouTubers, Zoe and Joe Sugg, aka Zoella and ThatcherJoe. Welcome to the show Loey!" The interviewer says while she smiles into the camera before turning to me.
"Thank you for having me!" I smile politely at the woman. It annoys me when people only recognize me as Zoe and Joe's sister instead of just being me. I mean.. don't get me wrong, I'm proud of my older siblings but come on!
"Now let me start off by saying, what a voice you've got there!" Her voice sounds rather surprised.
"Thanks," I reply as I blush at the compliment.
"Why haven't you pursued music?" My grip on my microphone relaxes a little at this somewhat easy question.
"Well... I dunno. I guess I just got into baking videos on YouTube and that became my passion. I just never thought of myself as a singer. My sister was the 'singer', not me."
"You just had a birthday recently, didn't you?" She asks and I nod with a smile on me face.
"I did, yes. A couple weeks ago."
"You went to The Vamps concert with your brother, Joe and his friends and got to meet your favorite band."
"I did, yeah. Joe was so sweet and arranged the whole thing for me. Conor Maynard was there as well, who happens to be one of my favorite singers that I now call a friend as well as The Vamps. They're all massively wonderful guys. But yeah, Joe had arranged for them to bring onstage to sing happy birthday and serenade me as well and then we went clubbing. It was great night all around."
"You were seen leaving the club with Brad Simpson from The Vamps that night..." I suddenly become pale in fear.
"Then a week later, you're seen with his bandmate, James McVey in Brighton. So what we want to know is... which is real, Joey or Ladley? Tristan Evans, their bandmate tweeted out that he and James shipped Ladley but yet James was seen with you acting like a couple?" I mentally kick Tris' balls for putting me in this position.
"Joey is most definitely not real! James is literally like my best friend and let's be honest, Tris ships himself with Brad. Tradley all the way!" The interviewer seems skeptical of my answer.
"So Joey and Ladley are completely false?" She asks me to clarify.
"James and Brad are near and dear to me, they all four are. I love each one of The Vamps." I give her an answer without actually answering the question but she moves on anyway, knowing I'm not gonna give a straight forward yes or no to the question. She's asked me a few questions about my YouTube channel and how my family feels about me doing this, which they are very supportive of. I had told my parents and siblings not to tell anyone about me doing this because I wanted to surprise everyone as only my family knows that I can carry a tune.
"Well thank you for coming onto the show and showing everyone just how amazing your voice is!" The interviewer's tone never once broke as she begins to close the interview.
"It was my pleasure." I give her small smile.
"Loey Sugg, everyone!" She exclaims before the interview closes and she gives me a polite smile before moving onto the next 'celebrity' that came onto the show.
When I got home that night, I video call Brad to see his reaction to my TV debut as I had sent him the details on how to watch early that morning. I'm greeted by a happy looking Brad as I try to get comfy in bed.
"Hello beautiful!" I smile at his cheerfulness.
"Hello handsome! So... whatcha think?... of the TV thing..." I struggle to get out and Brad gives me a cheeky smile.
"I knew you could sing, I could just tell, power too just like in bed." He gives me a wink and I gasp at him.
"Bradley!" I couldn't help but blush as Brad laughs at my reaction to his words.
"Seriously though, you were amazing Loey. You should sing with us sometime." I scrunch my nose at Brad's suggestion.
"But it'll seem like I'm just using you for fame or whatever..." I trail off and Brad shakes his head at me before giving me a mischievous grin.
"Not if I force you." I playfully roll my eyes at him before sighing.
"About the interview part though. I didn't know how to answer the questions about us cause we never really discussed that. Like how or when or if we were gonna tell your fans and my subscribers..." I look down as I say this and I hear Brad speak softly to me.
"When the boys and I come back to London next month for tour, we'll announce it, how's that?" I look up at my laptop screen to see Brad's sweet face, trying to read my face and I smile at him.
"Okay." We talk about how his radio tour is going and all the cool places his been in America before its time for me to head off to bed as I have tons of stuff to do and being a 4-5 hours difference between us, I didn't go to sleep til 2am.
