I'm not afraid, anymore,

I'm not afraid,

Forever is a long time,

But I wouldn't mind spending it by your side.

Chapter 2 - I Wouldn't Mind

My alarm woke me at 6 o’clock. I went into my closet and found a pair of jodhpurs and a polo shirt, slipped them on, ran downstairs and put my boots on.

As I made my way over to the stable I noticed there was a car in the driveway, which it can’t have been ours because that’s in the garage. Hm I thought to myself but kept walking. I was startled when I got into the stable, there was a figure.

I jumped and made a little screeching noise, he heard it and walked over and hugged me.

“Good morning beautiful” he said.

“Hmph, unlikely, I still have bed hair!”

“Well I think you’re beautiful” he said.

I grabbed Roary’s saddle and asked Zayn if he could get his bridle.

“Hey boy, it’s a nice day; I think the ride will be nice”

Roary whinnied.

He seemed to like Zayn. And Zayn liked him. It was joyful to watch them together.

“Do you mind if I watch you ride?” he asked.

“Not at all, I’d love for you to watch!” I answered as I tightened Roary’s girth.

Zayn smiled as I mounted Roary. I smiled back. It was as if me riding was the most amazing thing ever. To me riding was like I was free, a time where I can leave everything behind. But today, there was nothing bad to leave behind. I had the most amazing horse, the most amazing mum, the most amazing friends and the most amazing boyfriend. That’s all I need right now. I trotted around the arena warming Roary up.

After 5 minutes of trotting, we made our way to the first jump. Roary jumped it like it was the easiest thing ever. The second was coming up, but as we got closer and closer Roary would slow. I led him back around to the jump and as we got closer he kept up the pace,  then we jumped. We made our way to the third jump and made it over easily. Then we slowed and rode over to where Zayn was standing.

“That was brilliant! You ride so well!”

“Thanks, to ride well you must have a bond with the horse; you have to trust each other.” I replied.

“I certainly see trust there!” he chanted.

After riding, we untacked Roary and fed him. While we were walking back to the house I asked “So, did you get to ride much when you were younger?”

He thought about it, “Not as much as I would have liked to. I guess I just rode when I had time. You know, I normally rode when I was mad, when I wanted to calm down, leave everything behind. But when they sold Jessie, I didn’t have her to ride, to get rid of all the sadness, so I did it that hard way and learnt to get over it. Getting rid of Jessie on top of Dad leaving was tough, but Mum was great, I could talk to her when I needed to.” I cuddled Zayn and grabbed his hand.

“Aw, well at least you had your Mum; it sounds like she was great!”

“Yeah she was” replied Zayn.

“So what now? We’re meant to be going out later with everyone right?” I questioned.

Zayn had a cheeky look on his face. “Yeah, but we don’t have to, we can just hang out?”
