"Hello, Rinny, any reason you dared to betray us?" he smirked.
"Oh Bane, I fear I had no choice. But do meet my husband," I waved my hand sarcastically as a knife landed in Bane's shoulder.
Bane turned as Sebastian waltzed out of the tavern.
"Doesn't seem like your type Rinny..."
"It was my charming smile," Sebastian smirked kicking Bane in the back making him fall on his face.
I retaliated by kicking him in the stomach and making him flip onto his back.
"Why are you after Ciel Phantomhive?" I asked him, putting my healed boot into his chest.
"Because you failed the job Rinny dear," Bane smirked.
"And I've never been happier about that," I grinned.
"Why did you betray us?" he hissed.
"I was never one of you. Where is he, Bane?" I glared.
"Are you really asking me to give up father? Now you have really gone mad, Rinny. What has your new master done to you?" he panted.
"I'll kill you Bane, you know I will," I grimaced pulling my gun from its holster and aiming it at Bane's head.
"You would if you could Rinny, but I won't die today..." he smirked pulling my ankle and diving into a sewage vent on the street.
I grunted in frustration and struggled to my feet.
"Who is this Bane?" Ciel asked.
"Anthony Bane, is his name, he works for my prior organization." I grimaced lifting myself to my feet.
"And he was the one after the young master," Sebastian added.
"Yes, I believe so," I sighed. "We have to go after him!" I hissed.
"Wait," the child ordered making my muscles tense with adrenaline.
"What is it?" I demanded.
"Maybe Mr. Bane wants us to follow him. It could easily be a trap," he answered.
"What do you suppose we do?" I questioned.
"Call in back up," the child answered.
--------------
We left the city and the child went to this odd looking shop. We all walked in and was greeted by an odd looking gray haired man that had longer hair than me.
"Hello Earl Phantomhive!" He greeted in an odd voice.
I resisted the urge to pull out my pistol. From Ciel's posture it seemed like this man was a friend. I stared at the ground and got lost in thought. If Father would go through all of the trouble of sending Bane after us the he must seriously want Ciel and I dead.
Something grabbed my arm and I flinched trying to rip my arm out of its grasp. I looked down to see the child holding my arm.
"We must leave," he stated simply taking me out of the shop.
"What about the butler?" I asked looking back at the black clad butler.
"He will be right behind us," Ceil assured.
I shook my head and stood by the curb. My mind wander to a dark place then. I thought of a time long ago in my training.
Oof I was pushed on my back again. A knife lay against my throat as the older man eased off of me.
"Maybe next time rinny," he scoffed.
"Bane, this isn't fair you're older than me," I whined.
He turned to me and picked me up by the collar of my shirt. "The enemy will always have the upper hand in age and size. You're young and you are a girl. Don't say ignorant things," Bane hissed bitterly.
"Babe why do I have to dress like a little boy?" I asked.
"What assassination would want to work with a woman?" He scoffed.
"I guess you're right," my posture shrunk.
"Again. We won't stop until you can pin me." I looked up at the tree of a man. He was nearly twice my size and broad. It was physically impossible for a young girl like me to pin him but alas we trained. We trained all night and into the morning. Only when I collapsed from exhaustion were we finished.
I had paid dearly for that.
Something touched my shoulder and I lashed out and grabbed a small arm.
"Ow! Unhand me!" Ciel cried.
"Forgive me. You startled me." I answered.
"It is alright just don't do it again." He pouted.
"How do you do it?" I asked with effort.
"Do what?" He sighed.
"How do you live being so small and useless against bigger opponents?" I hissed.
He was silent for a moment. "Wow that was pretty rude," he scoffed. "But if you must know I can afford it because my butler is second to none," he smirked.
"You have a lot of faith in him," I signed.
"Yes he is a very faithful servant." The child smiled.
A noise sounder behind us. There was someone here. "Young master I need you to stand and get behind me in 3...2...1!" I cried Ciel dove behind me and I pulled my gun out.
"Back again so soon!" I cried sending a spray of bullets after Bane.
"Of course," he smirked his sideways grin. "But not without back up."
"Oh and let me return the favor," before I could process what he meant a searing pain rose up in my shoulder.
No. I needed my arms. How else could I fight? For the first time in a while I felt a feeling foreign to me. I was afraid. I was afraid that I could not protect this child.
