"What if he's real?"
"He can't be. Don't you know all those stories were made up?"
"Just saying." She smirked. "I don't think I'd be too angry if Poseidon was visiting my dreams..." Amber nudged Asha.
Asha huffed. She rarely had dreams before this man started appearing in her dreams. "What makes you think it's Poseidon?" She dipped her brush back in the murky water where the colors from her pallet had muddied. The blue from the brush began to dissolve turning the water into a muddled lagoon. She dipped it into the white paint and began to paint again. Amber rolled her eyes and leaned back into the beanbag chair in Asha's dorm. She let her eyes roam all over Asha's green color coordinated and intricate room. After musing on Asha's question, she decided to reply.
"You said he didn't look quite human." A nod from Asha. "You said he seemed to be walking on water and I don't think it's Jesus hun." Her pastel pink afroed friend gave Amber an annoyed but amused look. "Hm... I'm gonna go with Poseidon or maybe a merman." She finished. Asha's shoulders fell in defeat. She shook her head. If it was one of the two, she couldn't quite grasp why. She was never really into Greek mythology or any mythology for the most part. To her, it was just weird that she kept having the same dream. The being was handsome. So handsome that it was almost breathtaking. She knew that it couldn't be real because she had never even considered being attracted to someone like him. Or, even close. She thought about consulting a counselor on the campus, but thought twice because she knew that she wouldn't really get that much of an answer. In the end, he was getting closer. The whole thing was a mystery to her.
Amber took a brush from Asha's brush belt. She tried to balance it on her freckled nose and succeeded. "Speaking of fish people, are we still going to the beach this weekend? I so need the vacation." Asha peered at her silly friend before she continued to paint.
"Yup. I need a break too." College life was hard. Between studying, social life and deadlines, Asha needed a break. She couldn't wait for spring vacation. It was coming up in a few days. She had finally finished her tests and homework. All she had to do was pack. "We can leave on Friday and stay at Fowl Beach until Tuesday. Is Barry ready?" Amber's boyfriend. She nodded. "What about Pat? She is coming right?" Amber nodded again. Asha smiled. It was her first time going on a trip where it was just her friends for a whole weekend. Fowl beach was the type of place where the perfect weather just made the whole area seem picturesque. The weatherman said that it would be sunny with no chance of rain in the forecast. Perfect. After a grueling semester and some change, her and her friends would finally get some rest. And, maybe, she could finally get the man in her dreams out of her head.
