It was about twenty minutes from closing and I hadn't seen Ashton today. Maybe he just said he would see me tomorrow out of impulse? Like when the waiter hands me my food and tells me to enjoy my meal and I accidentally say 'you too'.
But who knows, there were still twenty minutes. I was counting the money in the register before I would lock it up for the night when I hear the bell above the door ring. And I may have smiled a bit too hard at the cause of the sound.
He walked over the the counter where I was seated and softly smiled at me. "My boss made me work an extra shift, I wear I almost got hit by two cars running down here to catch you." He said breathing rather quickly.
I couldn't help but blush at the thought of Ashton running across town just to come see me. "That's very sweet of you Ash." I said looking at my feet. He flashed me a wide smile before going to pick his signature single flower.
He stood there for a few minutes before picking up a small bundle. Not many people favored those so I was quite curious as to why he picked those out of all the other beautiful ones. He brought it up to the counter and smiled at me fondly.
"Why did you pick those ones? Why not a chrysanthemum, or even pick something as cliché as a rose?" I asked curiously. He handed me the money before looking up at me while shrugging.
"They reminded me of your eyes." And he said it so nonchalantly that I swear I could feel the air in the room thicken. I was so flustered my cheeks now matched the color of the roses.
Ashton chuckled before grabbing his things, "Bye Luke, I'll see you tomorrow." And with those few words he was out of my sight but not my mind.
-
"And he said they reminded him of my eyes! Calum can you believe that! I was so flustered I couldn't even say a word." I whined to my best friend.
After Ashton had left my shop I locked up and grabbed some chinese food for Calum and I to have for dinner. So here I was sitting on my couch telling Calum about how the brunette made my heart flutter.
"You're so whipped mate." Calum said to me with a mouthful of noodles. I stopped eating and looked at him. I raised my eyebrow, "Oh you have no room to talk. You're so whipped over Michael you won't even quit your shitty job!"
We both laughed at how foolish boys made us. "Are you ever going to talk to Michael?" I asked him after our laugher died down. He looked up at me and shrugged, "I'm waiting for the right moment."
I giggled and shook my head because that meant no. Calum gasped then looked up at me, "Did I tell you what he said the other day? He has to have some sort of feelings for me I swear because he got this new game, I can't recall the name of it, but he said one of the characters he needed to kill looked like me and he couldn't kill them!"
I looked up at him with wide eyes and began fangirling. "Oh my gosh Calum it's true love!" I said jokingly. He scoffed and crossed his arms, "He took the game back because he couldn't kill my doppelgänger. If that's not love I don't know what is."
He tried to remain serious but immediately began laughing his contagious laugh. I laughed along wth him and we stuffed our faces with noodles and teriyaki chicken.
I just hoped someone will love Calum the way he deserved. I shook my head fondly before throwing away my trash, "I'm going to bed, goodnight Cal."
I went into my room on the other side of the apartment. I changed into my pajamas after brushing my teeth and got into bed. I had trouble falling asleep because a certain brunette was running through my mind.
