Levi p.o.v.
I kicked at a rock repetitively. If I wasn't wrong, I had just heard (Y/N)'s door close a few seconds ago, so where is she? She possibly forgot something, knowing her clumsiness. My back tingled and I stopped kicking the rock right when I felt her small fingers claw at my shoulders.
"Boom!"
I turned around to slip out of her grasp and looked at her disoriented.
"So. Was that supposed to surprise me?"
She groaned and threw her head back "You have to admit you were at least a little bit spooked"
I started walking and she followed two steps behind me.
(Y/N) p.o.v.
Your eyes perused Levi as he kept walking ahead. What was it that was bothering him? He wouldn't just come for no reason to make you join him at the place. Maybe it was his parents again, he usually had problems with them. Although that would be the first time he'd have heard of them this year. He had moved out and far away from them for a reason at the start of senior year."Eren" he suddenly blurted out.
Your chest tightened at the 2 syllables. What did Levi have to tell you that needed your hearing at 10:30 pm? Couldn't he have waited, it was just Eren after all.
Just Eren, the guy that gave you all the muddled feelings. The only one who could give you such a sensation that even you didn't understand.
"E-eren? What's so uhm important about him?", you asked.
Levi kept quiet. You understood he didn't want to talk about it at the very moment until you both reached the place.
This place was the one location that Levi and you had kept a secret from the whole town. You slightly smile as the memory floods in.
The street light flickered the bright red and yellow all night. Janson E. Street nearby the park was the one light that always broke, even when fixed the day before. Eleven year old (Y/N) walked the streets with a pink stained cheek. The burning sensation seemed to swallow your whole face numb.
Your father broke into one of his breakdowns after a fight with the step-monster. The sour breath along with his disgusting hand had thrown a blow at your cheek. At that time they didn't care if you left without saying anything. They were glad you did, it was one less pest to deal with.
The streets were calm, other than a few cars heading home for the night. You had no idea where you were headed, but you did know that you didn't want to go back. The entrance of the park was a big arc made of stones. At the far right end, the swing set swayed as the light wind pushed throughout the sky. You slyly made your way to the set and started swinging.
You lunged forward and back to give you more force and shut your eyes tightly. The cool air was another slap to the face. However, you enjoyed this one. It was getting rid of the heat from your left cheek. Tears and laughter filled the air promptly. Your emotions were a big mess, and that was the one and only time the ache for your real mother became so painful that you felt as if your limbs were being teared apart.
All at once, when you opened your eyes, you were met with an expressive pair of grey eyes. Filled to the brim with tears. You stopped swinging because of this boy. He sat on a bench right ahead of you. You awkwardly looked at your shoes and wiped at your eyelids with your sleeves.
