Brunch at the Hastings

I woke up the next morning excited for my brunch with Conner. I walked over to my closet looking for something to wear.

I chose a teal green skater skirt and paired it with a cream Peter Pan collared blouse, then I chose a pair of floral flats. I headed into my bathroom, locked the door and stripped of my pjs. Then I turned on the warm water letting the warmth of the water soak my hair and skin.

I picked up my shampoo and squeezed some out, I rubbed my hands together before massaging it into my long auburn hair. Then after rinsing my hair, I picked up a bar of soap, rinsing it a bit before applying it all over my body.

After my shower I wrapped a towel around my body before blow drying my hair for around 20 minutes, curse you long hair. When my hair finally finished drying I twisted it into a top bun, then picked up my clothes.

I left the bathroom until I felt somewhat presentable. As I walked down the stairs I let my wavy auburn hair down, while I was going down the stairs, I smelt my mom's famous chocolate chip waffles. They're like the best and most amazing waffles in the universe, so instead of walking I ran down the stairs.

"Do I smell the best chocolate chip waffles in the entire world" I said as I inhale the magical scent.

"Oh, Mel it's not the best, you and your father's the only ones who eats it" Mom chuckled softly.

My parents got married when my Mom was 40 and my Dad was 46, so they were only able to have me. Now that I'm 18 their pretty old already, yet they still try to stay as strong as possible.

I kissed my Mom's cheek, then headed towards the dining table to set it, but my dad was there already there, everything was set from plates to utensils.

"Dad did you do all of this" I said walking over to him, leaning down to kiss his cheek.

"Yeah, so what about you, why are you all prepped up for" he smirked at me, raising a questioning eyebrow.

"Oh, um..Conner kinda asked me to go to his parent's brunch with him at 10, he's picking me up at.." I stare at my rose gold watch my grandma gave me before she died "in about 30 minutes" I smiled at my Dad.

"Oh, my baby's having a second date I see" my Mom said, obviously eavesdropping over our conversation.

"Well you could say that" I smiled widely.

We all sat together around the dining table chatting a bit. I poured myself a generous amount of orange juice, while I wait for Conner to pick me up at 9:30. I looked at my parents, they were always there for me, they always do what they can for me, we would cry, laugh and smile together.

The time I finished my glass of orange juice the doorbell rang.

"I'll get that" I exclaimed as I ran towards the door.

I opened the door, and there standing at the doorway was non-other than Conner Hasting. He was wearing a light grey sweater, the sleeves were pushed up to his elbows, he wore a pair of dark wash skinny jeans and a pair of sneakers. His light brown hair was a bit tousled giving him more of a bad boy vibe.

"Hey Mel! You ready!" He said, while he's eyes trail over my outfit.

"Yeah, I'll just say bye to my parents" I answered.

I ran back to the dining room, my parents were almost done, they spoke among themselves in a hush tone, obviously talking about me.

"So what's the big secret!" I said trying to hide my grin.

My parents instantly jumped apart staring at me with wide eyes.

"Oh nothing sweetie" my Mom answered
