Third Person POV

Jungkook kicked the autumnal leaves that crunched under his feet. Dark, wet leaves stuck to his new Timberlands - a present from his parents who were currently abroad. It was his birthday last week and he'd just turned 19. Officially an adult.

Every year was the same; his parents would always be abroad on their consistent business trips. Until the age of 17, he had lived with his grandparents but now he was a free bird living in an apartment a few blocks away from his high school. He was due to graduate in a few months but he wasn't the slightest bit bothered. Being one of the brightest and most favoured students in his high school, he knew he'd pass all the exams - which indeed, he did.

Life had gotten boring for him now, his friends had gotten even more distant and he was bathing in money. The monthly allowance he got from his parents sometimes made him wonder what kind of illegal shit they did to earn that much. Yet unlike most teenagers his age, he didn't splash out with the money he had. He liked to live a moderately simple life. Not too much but not too little either. He had learnt from the mistakes of his imbecilic friends who used up their money as if it was oxygen and ended up sharing apartments in groups of four or five.

Yes, he was popular in high school and there would be both girls boys and be chasing after him. His looks and facial structure, as well as his body frame, were his favourite assets. Brown curly hair that reached up to his strong, thick brows and his deep, dark brown orbs. His lips were not too big, the perfect size and he had a golden tinge to his skin. As a guy who regularly goes to the gym, he had perfectly toned abs and visibly muscular arms and thighs (insert lenny face omg where am I going with this. -A). Yet as he was quite the reserved guy, no one - not even his closest friends (if you could call them close) - knew much about his personality.

He was quiet for several reasons; he didn't like the idea of the high shool knowing his entire life story so he always had a certain boundary which no one passed. No, he wasn't anti-social, just selective of his friends.

As he made his way through the park between the high shool he went to and his mini apartment he rented, he spotted an eye-catching, black, hard-backed book underneath the pile of leaves he had just stricken. Although he had the slight instinct to ignore it, something at the back of his mind told him he should take a look. His hands went delving in through the wet leaves as he grasped the sleek book. 'The Death Note' He read the title over to himself in his mind. Nothing.

Shoving the book into his khaki bag, he continued his way home.

The surge of energy that passed through his body as he lay against the book went unnoticed by Jungkook. He didn't feel his eyes go darker and his heart golighter as all the heavy emotions left his body. Neither did he realise how much power the book he had with him held.

.

Once he stepped into his room, he threw his bag off his shoulders onto the bed. The book flew out and landed next to it, catching his eyes once again. He picked it up; it was light and thin but hard. The jet black cover was as deep as the night sky and the writing as white as snow. Caressing the side with his left hand, he flipped the book open.

There were several pages ripped out at the front but no writing inside at all apart from the last page. Jungkook couldn't understand what was written as it was in a foreign language. He disregarded the book and carried on with his daily routine.

But just before he fell asleep, Jungkook felt himself being drawn by the book itself. He couldn't resist turning on his laptop as he lay sat up on his king-sized bed (insert Lenny face again - why the heck does he need a king sized bed? -A). Opening Google, he searched up the name of the book where he found several pages on what it could be about.

"Bullshit," he remarked as he scanned through the articles yet something told him that he should try it out. Putting the laptop on his bedside table, he crawled off his bed and grabbed his bag fishing out the book once again. Then he grabbed a pen.

'Write down the name of a person, imagining their face as you do so'

Jungkook snorted a little, he couldn't believe he was actually doing this. 'Kim Jinwoo'. He picked someone in high shool he absolutely despised. You know, in case what was written was true.

'Afterwards, close the book'

Shutting the book, Jungkook sat still. Nothing, yet again. No tingly sensation or evilness pumping through his veins. He sighed, confused on whether he was relieved or disappointed and lay back down.

Little did he know, this was just the start.

A.N/ AHAHAHA! This was quite short tbh, I know. Only because I wanted a whole chapter so you could get to know what kind of person Jungkook is. Also, this way you can see his character develop throughout the story. Don't fret but Taehyung might only be in this a few chapters are as Jungkook is the main character. I might make a short story for Taehyung so you can see his 'mysterious past' but that'll be after this book. And yes, I know this chapter was too descriptive but idk, I only did that so you could properly imagine him. Usually, fanfictions get me imagining them all with different hair and hair colours each chapter so I wanted to be thorough. Jungkook in this looks like himself in the 'Fire MV'.

Also, I'm not the best writer and English isn't my first language - what the hell am I saying, I'm more fluent in English than I am in my first language. But, I do find it hard phrasing things sometimes so if something gets too hard to understand just leave a comment. I love reading comments. Also, don't be afraid to DM me!

Another thing is (this is slightly more important so please do read), I've been doing some research on schooling in Korea and I found out that the school day for high schoolers is like 12-16 hours? And that they wake up at around 2AM for private tuitions meaning most people only get around 3 hours of sleep. Well in this story, it won't be like that. It will be more similar to the American/English schooling. In addition to this, I AM NOT KOREAN. I don't understand any of the traditions etc. but I will be putting heavy research into this book to make it as realistic as possible. But as a heads up, not everything will be accurate and if you see anything I could improve just leave a comment, possibly DM me :)

Thank you for reading, hope you enjoy the rest!
