Chapter 1

I was perfectly fine. I was perfectly fine, good, and having the best 9th grade ever in the beautiful city of Los Angeles. That was until I sat down to a dinner that changed my life.

It was a simple family meal, like every other Friday night. Hah, yeah right.

"Okay," my dad said, holding Amy, my stepmother's, hand, "we have a very exciting announcement."

Oh god, I thought. The last time I heard those words I got a new mom, home and a rat of a little sister.

"What is it, daddy?" Becca, also known as the stepsister-from-hell, said sweetly.

I rolled my eyes. Ugh.

"Well, I just took a job offer in a very special place, but it's kind of far away," my dad started, and I wasn't looking forward to hearing the rest.

"Where daddy, where?" Becca asked.

"Ummm....London."

My jaw might as well hit the floor. "What?! London?  As in London, England? What the hell?"

"Nikki, watch your language! I already talked to your mother, and she said this would be a great opportunity for all of us!" My dad scolded, but I wasn't buying it.

"Yeah, come on Nikki, it'll be so much fun!" My stepmother, or should I say stepmonster, chimed in. It took all I could not to flip her off right there.

"Really? Are you freaking kidding me? Do you really expect me to leave my life, my boyfriend and mom here and just go off to London? You're acting like it's a stupid vacation! This is my whole life!" I exploded.

"Nikki, I thought you would understand. I have a great job to take in London, I thought you would be happy for me! And plus, London is such a great change!" My dad tried to persuade me.

"Understand? You want me to understand that I have to move halfway across the world just like that? You want me to be happy for you? What about my happiness? Ever thought about that?" I know I was being selfish, but really this was just too much.

"It's not like you have a choice, " Becca muttered.

"Oh my God! I can't believe this." I shook my head in wonder.

"Come on Nikki, can't you be at least a little excited?" Amy said.

"No, no I can't!" I yelled.

"Well I'm happy! This is going to be so cool!" Becca said happily.

"Easy for you to say, considering you have no friends and no life to leave," I replied angrily.

"Nikki! Apologize, now!" My dad defended Becca.

"I don't think I should be the one apologizing," I retorted as I stormed off to my room.

So there you have it. My life ruined in a matter of minutes. Within 3 weeks I was forced to pack my bags and leave everything. And now I'm on a flight to London International Airport. Screw my life.

We landed in London at 3 AM. The early morning arrival just added to my already amazing mood. Not.

"So where exactly are we going?" I asked. I didn't even know where and what we were going to live in.

"We have a condo in an area of London called Bexley," my dad replied, sounding like he had five cups of coffee even though it was pretty much the middle of the freaking night. "It's about 20 minutes from here."

"Great. Sounds like something right out of a fairytale," I muttered. "Where am I even going to school?" I don't know anything or anyone in London.

"Remember, we enrolled you into South Hampstead High School?" My father said as we piled into a taxi.

"Yeah, sure. When do I start?"

"Well, Amy and I thought it would be best for you to get settled first and get to know the city, so we thought you could start on Monday, 2 weeks from now," my dad said.

Well, those two weeks couldn't have gone by any slower. All I did was sit on my bed, earbuds plugged in, and on my laptop. I didn't do anything at all, let alone "getting to know the city." Believe it or not, when the day came, I was actually a little excited to start school.

I tried to do my normal school routine on that first day. Wake up, get dressed, eat breakfast, brush teeth, and do my hair and put a bit of makeup on, then leave. Well that didn't happen. I woke up late, didn't have time to eat breakfast and was rushed into a car by my dad. The car was suppposedly our private family car with it's own driver. I guess I could get used to this.

The driver dropped Becca off at her school first, which was only 5 minutes away from mine. It was a huge building with a bunch of preppy, snooty looking kids in front of it. Becca will fit right in, I thought.

However, when I got to my school, I was beyond surprised. It looked like a frickin castle. It was a big brick building with a huge wooden door and at least a thousand kids in the front courtyard. How was I ever going to survive?

Louis' POV

"Damn, check her out!" Harry whistled.

"Who?" I asked, confused.

"New girl alert! Or should I say hot girl alert?" Zayn smirked.

"Where?" I said, still confused.

"Right there, she just came out of the car," Harry answered.

I turned around. Then I saw her.

"Whoa," I breathed.

We were standing on the steps of the front building before school. Like always, we tried to look for girls. I wasn't really into it, but since they did it, so did I. I never really saw a girl that I liked, a girl who I thought was cute, but still had a soft side and was sweet.

"I'm gonna go over there. She looks lost," I said to them, awed by her presence. I walked over to her.

"Hey, I'm Louis. Are you new here?" I asked.

"Um, yeah." She seemed kinda shy.

"Well, lemme show you around, it's a big campus." I smiled.

"Er, thanks. Um, I'm Nikki, by the way."

"Nice to meet you Nikki."

I never expected what would happen next.
