Ally's POV
Do you ever get that feeling when you feel like you shouldn't tell someone something, but want to do it anyway, just for the hell of it?
That's how I felt about telling Nikki about Louis, and our so-called "relationship." I really just had to get it out, tell someone, especially since Nikki seemed like she was getting into a more-than-friendship situation with him. As her friend, I felt the need to warn her. Even though Louis had pretty much sworn me to secrecy, he should've know I, out of all people, can't keep a secret.
So I decided to tell Nikki. I never would have expected her to react the way she did.
Nikki's POV
I sipped my Starbucks, trying to focus on my history homework. Who gives a shit about this crap anyway? I couldn't think. At all. Well, except for one thing: Louis.
And Ally.
Ally and I had talked for about half an hour this, missing homeroom. She had told me everything, from when she was dating Louis, to when she found out about his cheating, to losing her best friend, and finally to why Louis blew me off.
At first I was confused. Were we talking about the same Louis? Louis, the one who was my first friend here in London? Louis, the one who I had a fun "study" date with? Louis, the person who I sat with everyday at lunch? I didn't believe he was a cheater, a player!
So then I was furious. I couldn't even believe Louis. How could he? I thought we were starting to be in a relationship, then he blows me off and I find out he's a cheater? How can I trust him? I don't want to be the girlfriend of a player. I would be humiliated because God knows what he would do to me, if he cheated on Ally!
He tried to talk to me all day today. It was always a "Nikki, hey, can I talk to you?" or a, "Please, just one minute?" I just brushed past him each time without a word.
Ally's POV
Louis and I went way back. Our parents were friends, and our younger sisters were pretty much BFFs. I had known him since I was 3.
He was my best friend throughout elementary, and all the way until freshman year. I had probably had my best, and worst, memories with him.
Along the way, I had met the best girl friend I've ever had. Her name was Annie, and was sweet, careful, smart, and conscious. We were pretty much opposites. That's why we were best friends. We complimented each other and we were very close. But, then, towards the end of 10th grade, she started drifting. She was changing, I had saw it right before my eyes. She wasn't the same, innocent, girl I had known all of these years. Her grades dropped, her parents asked me what was happening. I had no idea, I had told them. She kept to herself more, and then, one day, she was gone. I called her many times, texted her, even called her parents. Nothing. Here one day, gone the next. I didn't know what to do. But, one June day, I would find out that the only one who knew why she left, besides her parents, was Louis.
We had been dating for about 8 months at that point. And, since usually the boyfriend and the bestfriend semi know each other, I thought, why not, might as well ask, right? I remember that afternoon clear as day. It was one of the most heartbreaking and confusing moments of my life.
We were sitting with our feet dipped in the pool one day in the beginning of that summer before 10th grade, a couple of weeks after Annie disappeared.
"Lou, can I ask you something?" I looked into his wide, caring eyes.
He put his hand over mine. "Of course, you know you can ask me anything."
"Promise me you'll answer truthfully?" I had a nagging feeling that somehow, someway, he knew about Annie.
"100 percent honest," he smiled genuinely.
"Okay," I took a deep breath, even though I had no reason to be nervous. For all I knew, he could have no idea what happened to her. "Do you know what happen to Annie?"
He pulled his hand away and ran it through his hair-- a sign of nervousness, I knew.
"Well, do you?" I was suddenly very anxious.
"Um..." he paused, "Yes?"
"Is that a question or an statement?" I stared into his eyes, coldly. This was my bestfriend we were talking about, and if he didn't want to tell me what happened to her, I would force it out of him.
"Yes," he sighed, "I do know what happened to her," he looked down.
I paused, my brain processing what he just said. It all went downhill from there.
"What? You know? You didn't tell me? What happened? Why'd she leave?!" I was confused, angry, I couldn't think straight.
"Ally, Ally please, calm down. I'll tell you what happened, where she went, and why. But before I do, I want to tell you, I'm sorry. It was a huge mistake, I was mad and wasn't thinking. It was only once, I promise. Just know, we will never be the same after this," he searched my eyes for an answer.
"Just tell me Louis," I snapped. I didn't care what would happen after this, I didn't care for his little sorry speech. I missed my bestfriend, and would do anything to get her back. If that meant screwing things up with Louis, we could always fix it right? I mean, how bad could it be.
"Um...Well, Annie left because..because...she was pregnant."
Wait.
What?
"Louis, I'm not kidding, if you know, tell me," I asked pleadingly, hoping what he said wasn't true.
"I'm sorry, Ally," he whispered.
At that moment I knew it was true. I put together the pieces. Louis had gotten Annie pregnant.
"B-but, she...she's 15...and you, you, how could you?!" I screamed. I was in a incredible state of shock and disbelief.
"Ally, please, I know you're mad, just please, please hear me out," he tried to pull me back down next to him.
"You are going to explain this to me, and you are not going to lie, and you are going to get Annie back," I said at him through gritted teeth. I needed answers. And I needed them soon, or else I was going to lose it.
He had explained to me that, just as I thought, he had cheated and had gotten Annie pregnant. I found out that she was going to put the baby up for adoption, and that they would never speak of it again. I couldn't believe it. How utterly crazy it all was. She was sent off to boarding school and I never saw her again.
As for Zayn, he's the only other one who knows about the pregnancy besides me, Louis, and Annie's parents. Apparently, Louis went straight to him after he found out. He was sworn to secrecy, and of course, being Zayn, he never told. The 3 other boys, Niall, Harry, and Liam, each thought what Nikki thought-- all he did was cheat. No pregnancy, not a big commotion, nothing.
Of course, I had never told Nikki the whole story. I couldn't bear it. I would melt down. It was just all too insane to even think about. All I had told her was that Louis was a player, and had frequently cheated on girls. I didn't like lying to her, and I knew if she found out, she would hate each and every one of us. I had to risk it, though, it would ruin us if she found out. She wouldn't trust any of us ever again. Plus, I knew that she would forgive Louis. Right?
Wrong. After I told her, she was furious at him, and I knew that I had screwed up. Majorly.
